Help choosing LEDs

Hey everyone so I'm looking to setup ambilight and I'm starting to realize there are a ton of different LEDs to pick from. I guess I'm stuck between apa102 and ws2812b. It seems both will technically work now but with ws2812b it seems there may be issues along the way. Can anyone chime in? I obviously want to go cheaper but I'm worried I may have issues. I've seen a lot of tutorials that do either way I just want to make sure I don't need a phase shifter or arduino etc. (I have RPi 3 and I just want to be able to use it) One last smaller question would be is 60 LEDs a meter vs 30 worth it?

What about ws2813 does anyone know if that works? Would you wire it the same was as apa102?
