Hyperion / Grabber stops working after 0.x seconds

Dear all,

I do have a strange problem with my rpi3 running standard linux and hyperion.

When I restart the Rpi, everything works great under the linux environment, I see the Ambilight for the screen. When I switch to my TV, for a short amount of time the ambilight works (under a second), then the LEDs turn blue and stay that way, even if I switch back to my rpi.

I tried different power supplies (2.4 A), with and without USB extension, new grabber, ...

As I can see, my grabber just stops working.
dev/video0 does exist. After the error, no screenshot can be taken.

Does anybody have a clue?

When I first used my USBTV007 grabber. I noticed that it got very hot after running for few hours. Hot enough to make the plastic case become malleable !! I cut a hole in the housing and put a heat sink on the main chip. It has been on for a bit over a year now, 24/7 and solid.

Just a thought.
