Kodi checker starts up, but LEDs don't. Internal grabber works normally.

  • Hello,

I am running Raspbian on RPi3. I installed Kodi and it's all working normally. I only have one problem. Internal grabber works and LEDs turn on and work as they are supposed to, but if I turn off internal grabber and only keep on Kodi checker LEDs don't turn on.

According to the log, Kodi connects succesfully. I had to change Kodi checker port to 8080 to get it to work, 9090 (default value) didn't work. Does anyone know where lies the problem?

    Here is the log:

  • Greetings

    I turn off internal grabber

Don't turn off your internal grabber, keep it enabled and let the kodi checker enable/disable it accordingly to your settings.

Kodi Krypton is untested and we have seen some missing responses some months back, the actual state is unknown as i didn't tested it again. I will have a look when Krypton reach RC. (In case you use it)

  • Thank you, I'll test with internal grabber turned on and report back.

I am running Isengard (KODI 15.2) since I think this is the latest version supported by Raspbian officially (http://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Install_Kodi_on_Raspberry_Pi).

Maybe just another a bit off-topic question. Can I increase luminance in Hypercon to 1,3 to increase overall brightness, because when I do that some hyperion effects sometimes become desaturated (Color traces to be precise - red becomes light red etc.) but in video playback, menus and picures all seems to be great, no such desaturation is seen, luminance is increased and more colors are detected. Parts of the screen where leds were otherwise turned off now turn on nad it looks better to my eyes that way.

  • I tried leaving internal grabber on, as suggested. Hyperion works normally, but when I turn off Kodi, the lights don't turn off as they should. In log, I get "Kodi disconnected" correctly but soon after that I get "Kodi connection error" message...
