Hyperbian - which hyperion in it? classic or ng?

  • Hello,

i just have a little question.
Which hyperion is included in the hyperbian image?
The classic version or this "new" ng stuff?
    i ask because i have lpd8806 and they don't work with ng....yet.
So before i wipe my SD card i did a quick post in here.

    Thanks
    Patrick

@Schicksal Hyperbian is based on hyperion.ng.

There had been a problem with lpd8806 before, but that was fixed already.
In hyperion.ng version you have had the problem?
You might want testing the latest version and report back, if there is still an issue which need to be addressed.

  • no no, i had my hyperion running since years without updating anything.
Then it didn't run anymore and now i want to resurrect it and i was reading here and there what have changed in the meantime.
So i read there is a ng version (whatever this is), there is a Hyperbian (thumbs up!), there are/were problems with this new ng stuff and lpd8806.
Just reading and asking before i start with my resurrection ;)

  • oh dear,

ng with the webinterface is so different.
i can't get ist to work.
    i'm to dumb.
nothing lights up. how can i start an effect for testing?
how do i configure the fushicai grabber?
sorry but i understand nothing with ng :(

PS: i'm using hyperbian on a rpi 3 with lpd8806 (it worked with classic, so it is correct connected)

  • Searching, trial an error is ok for me. Thats's how i used and learned my diy ambilight with hyperion (classic) since years.
Now i wanted to start with the "new stuff" and it is very difficult to find a How-To or the first steps. That's why i asked here.

I have configured my ldp8806 led strips and nothing happens.
The next step is the fushicai grabber but could you please tell me what to choose?
Or how to test my settings.... i don't know how to start an effect for testing the LED settings. There is no button to start one or i can't identify it as a test-button.
    Just a little jumpstart

"ng with the webinterface is so different."

I assume you can access the UI.
First configure the LED-Device and layout.

If it does not do what you expect, please have a view at the log. You find it under System.
In case there is an Error logg on the LEDDEVICE, try to resolve it.

You in addition might want to active Debug logging and share the output here.
suggest that you Enable the LED-Device via the "Remote Control/Fernsteuerung" menu.
Share the log only after that.

To test a solid color or effect on the configured LED-Device you can use the "Remote Control/Fernsteuerung" too.

Hoping that gives you a start....

  • That's the start i've needed. Thanks a lot.
OK, LEDs running, grabber is grabbing, colors are calibrated.
Everything is working fine if i use remote control and choose USB capture.
How can i start USB capture automaticaly after booting the rpi?

  • I found the problem.
My Pi (or the hyperbian image?) couldn't run a boot up effect.
I don't know why but when i disabled this bootup effect it just start with the usb capture :)
