Did anyone test this new type of leds with Hyperion? On paper there are perfect and because it's a new model there is a chance that Chinese didn't manage to make counterfeit clones of them (like APA102 where almost every APA102 sold on AliExpresses is in fact worse SK9822).

never heard from them, but here is data sheet for everyone who is interested

Compatible with APA102 protocol, speed of 40MHz and PWM = 26kHz looks really impressive. At least on the paper...
There's also other model HD108 but unfortunately not accessible for sale on Ali.
Rpi 3.3V fits HD108 logic levels and it's 16bits per color.If anyone has trustworthy seller to recommend I could buy it on 11.11 and test it myself (my 2801 needs refresh after three years). This time I'll build a frame because my TV is a little too far from wall and colors of adjacent leds are mixed up.

This one :
https://fr.aliexpress.com/item…b201602_,searchweb201603_looks reliable (can't say for sure, never ordered here)
I've had a look at my best shop on Aliexpress, BTF-Lightning, but they don't sell HD107S for the moment -
Unfortunately, there is nothing from RGBW.
For me it has to be RGBW with 60 LED / mhttps://de.made-in-china.com/c…sion-Speed_egeooeyoy.html

yeah...the datasheet also only says rgb? apa107 are also rgb

8,You can see the difference of HD107s and APA102 LED Strip, they are both 5m length.When light up white color, APA102 led strip has color mixed, not pure white color, so voltage drop is obvious….
HD107s LED strip is better, white color, no voltage drop within 5m lengthRegards pclin

Yeah, for sure it seems to be better option than other LEDS. Of course HD108 would be better for Rpi. I'm afraid about their reliability. My WS2801 works without any issues for years and I've read many reports about problems with other type of leds, mainly APA102 clones. I've just found direct seller from the manufacturer of HD107S and they have cheap 48led per meter, that's what I was looking for.
-
I tested WS2801. WS2812b, LPD8806, APA102 and SK6812-RGBW-NW.
1 place SK6812-RGBW-NW
2 place APA102
3 place LPD8806 /WS2812b
5 place WS2801
Most of them with 60 LED/mRegards pclin

Why sk6812? One channel instead of two and very low bandwidth. I my case bandwidth is very important for high FPS grabber and smoothing at least 3xFPS. And account LED per meter. Must to calculate the frames size but I propably need more MHz than 800KHZ.
-
SK6812-RGBW best white, Color calibration is very easy, most consistent values for MCD and there is no speed limit in my testing.

@pclin I saw some users on other forum waiting for them from January, no one can order them
And for the bandwidth:
For 55" Oled TV I need ~4m of LEDs.
Communication frame size: ~ LEDs * 4 bytesFor 30 led/meter:
4 * 30 * 4 * 8 +headers => ~3900 bits
30FPS * 3 smoothing = 90 => 351kHz at ideal conditionFor 30 leds/meter 180 FPS => 700kHz
For 48 leds/meter 90FPS: 6200 * 90 => 560kHz
For 48 leds/meter 180FPS => 1.1MHzFor 60 leds/meter 90FPS: 7680 * 90 => 700kHz
For 60 leds/meter 180FPS => 1.4MHZBut we are not living in the perfect environment. Some video frames could arrive late, there is overhead on internal communication and we need higher bandwidth than that minimum. I think that it's safe to assume 1.5 * that minimum. Almost all of one channels LEDs are unsuitable for most scenarios for me.
I think that I'll order that HD107..or maybe someone has a link to genuine, not counterfeit, not cloned Taiwanese APA102 as an alternative?
-
I'm waiting for the HD108 RGBW with my 268 LED SK6812 RGBW, I'm very satisfied.
Regards pclin
-
Received feedback from the manufacturer from China. HD108 can be ordered but the price is ~50$ per meter :eek:
-
thats tooo much.... I would rather buy sk6812rgbnw for ambilight or ws2812b for all other projects
-
Yes thats tooo much....
