Lirc stopps working when hyperion is on

  • Hey volks,

I am not sure if this is a hardware or software issue...so maybe we have to shift this thread to the software forum. But here first of all I my issue

I was running a hyperion setup as follows:

    • Raspberry pi 3+

    • WS2801 LEDs
    • Fushicai UTV007 grabber

Since end of last year I grabbed the picture directly from the scart source of my Sky receiver.

With this setup I controlled Hyperion on/off, USB Grabber on/off and some of the Hyperion effects with my Sky remote via LIRC.

  • Now I have a new Sky receiver which only has HDMI out. Hence, I had to change my setup by adding

    • Splitter
    • D/A Convetrer

However, I was not very happy with this setup due to color issue which I was not able to calibrate.

LIRC was working with this setup.

  • Then I change to a new grabber:

    • UTVF007 HDMI to USB grabber

which replaced the D/A Converter an the Fushicai UTV007 grabber.

With this setup I got very good colors etc.

However, LIRC stopped working as soon as I turn on Hyperion (no matter which version 1 or 2ng).
    I used

    Code
    sudo /etc/init.d/lirc stop
    mode2 -d /dev/lirc0

to check if IR signals are receiver. Fail.

    The command

    Code
    irw

does not show the keys I am pressing.

  • Next I replaced the splitter and grabber by a MIRA BOX equivalent.

    With this setup

    Code
    sudo /etc/init.d/lirc stop
    mode2 -d /dev/lirc0

    IR signals are received.

    However,

    Code
    irw

does not show the keys I am pressing.
    Hence,

    Code
    irexec

does not work to control Hyperion.

P.s. as soon as I turn off Hyperion, LIRC works like a charm.

  • Thanks for your help.
    I tried both

    Code
    dtparam=audio=off

    and

    #dtparam=audio=off

However, no change. irw and irexec do not work.
mode2 -d /dev/lirc0 works and shows that IR signals are received.

  • aww man i wish i saw this prior to you posting in it, I had the same problem and found the Micro Pro Clone - works same as the Flirc but fraction of the cost, doesn't look as cool though, Glad you got it working though
