Newbie, extra set of ambilight for android TV

  • Hi guys,

I have one ambilight set (arduino uno), WS2812B LED strips installed behind my android TV Sony KD-55X9000F, using the android tv app (Ambient light Application for Android).

Now I have one extra arduino uno and some WS2812B LED strips. I would like add one more set of ambilight under the cabinet, showing the colour of bottom side of TV. How should I achieve it ? Should I buy ESP8266 and make use of WLED ? Is it possible to achieve it without raspberry pi ? Thanks a lot for helping.

then can I consider the ambilight which I would like to install under the cabinet as a separated project ?

is it a must to have raspberry pi? or just ESP8266 with hyperion and wled would be enough ?

    Thanks

what do you mean with raspberry pi? for the additional led setup? if yes, then no, you only need one raspberry pi with hyperion running, in hyperion you can setup different instances in your case one instance for adalight->arduino with usb and another one for wled->esp

  • Thanks for your reply.
My current set is just arduino uno with usb plug in the android TV, no raspberry pi.
So I need to buy a pi and ESP8266 now, and setup different instances in hyperion one instance for adalight->arduino with usb and another one for wled->esp

  • Can I use wemos d1 uno wifi to install WLED (to replace rasberry pi) and Wemos d1 mini connected to the LED strips, will this work ? thanks

  • Can wemos d1 uno wifi receive data from android grabber app and act as hyperion server ? if so, how to do so? thanks

  • sorry for asking the same question again. but I just confused those similar names but actually not work on every system/platform,so I just need a pi and wemos d1 mini but not the wemos d1 uno wifi. thanks a lot.
