Hyperion Not Detecting USB Video Capture

  • Hello,

I installed hyperion on Rpi 4 and have enabled the USB capture. But hyperion doesn't detect usb video capture when i go to the remote control tab of hyperion and nor can i see a live feed. My video capture device works fine as i checked it in OBS ...Can you tell me what to do?

  • take a look there. maybe you find something that helps your problem.

  • I read that thread... This is what it is written there

    "

    Go to the WebUI and menu USB grabber;

    Device; USB video: USB video

    Input; Camera1 ( or higher)

Resolution; in 16/9 lowest as possible and then build up the resolution

Size decimation; set to at least 4 until 12 >> the higher count, the worse image

Frames a second; 15FPS or go lower and higher.

    "

The main issue is that my hyperion doesn't detect the usb capture in the first place...So i don't see the "USB Video" option under the USB capture tab to proceed further as instructed above.

  • Manish Verma: Make a SSH connection to the RPi. Log in and type lsusb in the console. What's the output?

For more information about the video capture type dmesg | grep -i Video.

When i plug any other usb device in my Rpi 4 like a flash drive ..it immediately shows up in lsusb

  • Hi I'm new here and have just got my first raspberry pi Hyperion project working with reasonable ease. From what I see my setup is exactly as you have done.

I might be able to offer an idea

I have noticed that the blue LED on my video capture device wasn't lighting up indicating a stable video input and Hyperion was not detecting the video capture device. I power cycled the video capture box including the 2 HDMI cables (as there is 5V power on the HDMI cable) and micro USB power and USB data cables.

When I connected the HDMI input source last I got the Blue LED and then Hyperion recognized the USB device and I could configure it as per the pic attached.

maybe your capture device needs the same reboot?

    Hope this helps.

  • Yeah it worked but the USB Video option vanishes after sometime

  • Manish Verma: Seems the "Video capture with loop" is not recognized in your system.

If you have a windows PC, stick in the capture card and open the camera app.

The RGB test picture should appear the monitor.

  • The video capture device is working fine when i checked with OBS in my windows pc..But in Hyperion it works for just a few minutes and then vanishes...

I think i have to try with some other video capture device.
