New linux kernel (5.10) DISPMANX error

  • So I am trying to build hyperion.ng on Libreelec(matrix) and RaspiOS. either way it fails with hyperiond DISPMANXGRAB : <ERROR> Snapshot failed: -1 This happens no matter what OS as long as it is this new kernel. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this? I should say this is a pi4

Side Note: This Kernel is the support for HDR so I want it. I do not want to downgrade kernel. I have been waiting for 4k HDR support for so long.

  • there's a line in config.txt to uncomment about the pi4 and dispmanx

    [pi4]

    # Enable DRM VC4 V3D driver on top of the dispmanx display stack

    #dtoverlay=vc4-fkms-v3d

    #max_framebuffers=2

don't know if that helps or doing something but its worth to try it out.

  • If I launch hyperion-dispmanx and watch log, it displays this

    hyperion-dispmanx DISP : <INFO> Display opened with resolution: 4x1053481272

even if I input --width and --height as 100

maybe this can help. full log below

edit: This specific log is on libreelec, which admittedly is really hard to get dtoverlay and frambuffer settings to work
