Hyperbian usage with HDMi to CSI2 Adapter board as Grabber

  • Hello,

    i try to use this HDMI to CSI Adapter on my PI4 (2GB) with the latest Hyperbian image.

    I set as shown in the wiki article that I to see the v4l2 devices:

    root@HyperBian:~# ls -lah /dev/v4l/by-path/platform-*

    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 13 Sep 18 17:32 /dev/v4l/by-path/platform-bcm2835-codec-video-index0 -> ../../video12

    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 13 Sep 18 17:32 /dev/v4l/by-path/platform-bcm2835-isp-video-index0 -> ../../video13

    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 13 Sep 18 17:32 /dev/v4l/by-path/platform-bcm2835-isp-video-index1 -> ../../video14

    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 13 Sep 18 17:32 /dev/v4l/by-path/platform-bcm2835-isp-video-index2 -> ../../video15

    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 13 Sep 18 17:32 /dev/v4l/by-path/platform-bcm2835-isp-video-index3 -> ../../video16

    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 12 Sep 18 17:32 /dev/v4l/by-path/platform-fe801000.csi-video-index0 -> ../../video0

    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 12 Sep 18 17:32 /dev/v4l/by-path/platform-fe801000.csi-video-index1 -> ../../video1

    But how to enable and use this in Hyperian I couldn't figure out.

    Maybe someone here are so kind and point me to the information's I need to get it up and running.

    Many thank's in advance!
    Paul

  • PaulG4H & Reski: I tried this on a RPi 3A +.

    It works, but mind the maximum resolution of 1080p @ 30Hz. If you have an 4K equipment, you should use an HDMI splitter with downscaler to 1080p. In Raspbian enable Video0 or Video1 and don't forget to activate the Pi camera with raspi-config.

  • The CPU load is 8 - 36% (last HyperBian version). In my opinion the delay Picture/LEDs is slightly less than the usual way with Grabber via USB. Maybe CSI has the faster data bus? The disadvantage is the maximum resolution of 1080p/30Hz at the input.
