Just installed Hyperbian image downloaded from here: https://github.com/hyperion-project/HyperBian/releases/

I added wpa_supplicant and ssh files. The pi connected successfully to home wifi network, upon boot.
I could easily view configuration webpage at http://myIP:8090 and at https://myIP:8092.
However, the config web gui is telling me that I am running version 2.0.12 and that I can update to 2.0.13.
I also could not SSH into my pi. The default "raspberry" password was not working. I connected via ssh on port 22, but it would not accept pw "raspberry" for user "pi". I could not logon via ssh even though I was easily able to connect.
There is currently a problem. We are looking into it.

Did you try typing in the password with an English keyboard in mind? E.g. for a German keyboard y and z are switched…
@Matrover & AbleWorker Hyperion's APT repository has been fixed and HyperBian should now be on version 2.0.13
Note: In case you already running HyperBian with 2.0.12 and only want updating Hyperion,
you could do a
# Update your local package index and install Hyperion:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install hyperion
For previous version it is not recommended.

I recall a problem that 2.0.11 did not do a proper clean-up..., but that might have been to local installs...
Maybe you uninstall 2.011 and then start with a fresh apt install...

its for my friend who's still running 2.0.11 Alpha because he was afraid to update and loose the settings and had to do a fresh install 
that version had the problem with the smoothing feature that didn't start..
but i am going to try it if he wants me to update it anyway, thanks.
