Linux Mint issue on hyperion install

  • Hi guys

    I'm a bit of a noob on Linux mint.

    So I have my Linux mint as the main operating system with Kodi as the media player.

    I installed Hyperion in the terminal it was a successful the install but when I go the website
    ip:8090 or 8091 I don't get anything at all.

    So I started the debugging

    when I typed in the terminal

    sudo service hyperiond stop

    It says the is no hyperiond. service enabled.

    So I'm not sure mustIi create the service?

    Another thing to take note of is. The current setup worked before on libreelec but this was a few years ago.

    The audrino has certain software installed i cant even remember what is on there but it did work.

    Do I need to change the software on the audrino at all?

  • hyperiond@username is for older versions.

    sudo systemctl start hyperion@username

    systemctl status hyperion@username

    To test whether hyperion works, enter hyperiond in the console.

  • To test whether hyperion works, enter hyperiond in console!

    Try sudo updateHyperionUser -u kodi

    Code: updateHyperionUser.sh
    # help print function
    function printHelp {
    echo "The script updates the user Hyperion is executed by system and service manager (after start-up).
    Without arguments it will configure Hyperion being executed under the current user.
    The script must be executed as root, i.e. sudo $0

  • Hi Pclin

    Thx for the help is there not a detailed tutorial somewhere i can follow?

    kodi@kodi-mediacentre:~$ hyperiond

    kodi@kodi-mediacentre:~$ sudo updateHyperionUser -u kodi

    [sudo] password for kodi:

    Restarting Hyperion Service: hyperion@kodi.service

    I tried to run DBG but im not having much luck

    kodi@kodi-mediacentre:~$

    With the installation i had issues running the command below.
    in the end i installed it manualy by downloading a release file from github (Hyperion-2.0.13-Linux-x86_64.deb)

    kodi@kodi-mediacentre:~$ sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install hyperion

  • Got the hyperion web config working.

    Created hyperion.service

    [Unit]

    Description=Hyperion ambient light systemd service

    After=network.target

    [Service]

    ExecStart=/usr/bin/hyperiond

    WorkingDirectory=/usr/share/hyperion/bin

    TimeoutStopSec=5

    KillMode=mixed

    Restart=on-failure

    RestartSec=2

    [Install]

    WantedBy=multi-user.target

    Got the webpage up.

    Can you maybe telll me whats the pin out selection on the audrino?

    Pin 6 & GND

  • Which LED type and how many LEDs do you want to operate?

    Arduino is very limited, better would be an ESP with WLED software.

  • I counted them about 294 led

    Checked the logs

  • That is clearly too much for an arduino!

    Arduino has less power and memory than an ESP8266.
