Screen goes black when I turn on the lights

  • Hi all.

I have had the Hyperion system setup for a year and had no issues. This last week for some reason, when I turn on the lights, the screen goes blank anywhere between 1 and 60 minutes and then I have to reboot the tv, sky box and Raspberry PI.

One thing I have noticed that is different is the Capture card selection. It used to say the name of the capture card but it is now set to automatic. When I try to change it, I have 2 options which are bcm2835-isp-capture0 and bcm2835-isp-capture1. This did not used to be the case so I am thinking this could have something to do with it.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • It looks as if no capture card is recognized anymore. If you are running an external grabber on USB, post the output of usb-devices. bcm2835-isp-capture0 and bcm2835-isp-capture1 is RPI internal.

  • external grabber is USB grabber, powered by USB port of the PI. Internal grabber is the desktop video live feed in the PI, like a live screen grabber that u can use as video source directly to Hyperion.

So when you select dispmanx grabber or other live feed protocol then Hyperion grabs the live feed internal IN the PI.

That's convenient if you use Kodi addon or such.

u can also do the command in terminal screen,

    dmesg

    Or

    lsub

  • So I reckon the USB grabber is my capture card as that is powered by the Pi via a USB cable.

I managed to get the capture card to show up and everything worked for about 20 minutes and then boom, the screen went black again.

This is in the log. The part where it says ERROR is when the screen went black

There is no support for HyperHDR here, this Forum is about Hyperion.

It could be that HyperHDR works differently.
