Problems with Piccap on WebOS and HDMI devices

  • Hello,

I have Piccap and Hyperion.NG running on my TV. Rooting the TV and installing via Homebrew worked great. Thanks to everyone who made it so easy!

So far everything is working, including the control of the LEDs. Unfortunately, however, I still have a problem. When using external devices via HDMI (e.g. Apple TV, Nintendo Switch), I have horizontal stripes every few seconds in the upper third of the picture when Piccap is running. In the Hyperion.NG video preview, the image is then overlaid with green streaks (see screenshot), which are also passed on to the LEDs, resulting in a wild green flickering.

The same applies to the paintings that LG displays as placeholders when no source is active.

With internal sources such as Disney Plus or Amazon App, everything works as it should. Streaming via Airplay to the TV also works flawlessly.

Do you have any idea what the problem could be?

    My setup:

    OLED555B97LA

    WebOS 05.50.45

    Piccap 0.4.3

    Hyperion.NG 2.0.16

    ESP32 with WLED

    SK6812 LEDs

    Settings in Piccap:

    Address: 127.0.0.1

    Port: 19400

    Hyperion Priority: 150

Resolution: 320x180 (I had already lowered it once, but there was no difference)

    Maximum FPS: 30

Video capture Backend: Automatic detection (switching to WebOS 5.x+ makes no difference)

Graphical capture Backed: Automatic detection (if I switch to WebOS 5.x+ here, Hyperion.NG is no longer found by Piccap and the settings are reset to default after every restart. The only thing that helps here is to delete Piccap and reinstall it).

    Autostart: on

V-Sync: off (but makes no difference)

    Thanks.
