Use hyperion without raspberry on ubuntu 24.04

  • Hello, I hope you're all feeling great !

I want to use hyperion to make ambilight to my ubuntu machine on Ubuntu 24.04 and I use a Samsung G9 Odyssey.

I was wondering If it was possible to use it without raspberry pi and HDMI splitter etc.

Just by connecting our pc directly to the led band via maybe USB or a dongle USB to SPI, I have no idea.

If it is possible can you help me on which hardware should I choose for doing that ? Like which led strip and/or dongle should I use ?

If not what would be the best way to do it ?

Thank you in advance and thanks to all the community for this awesome tool !

  • Without raspberry pi, yes

Hyperion needs images. For external sources you need a splitter and USB grabber.

Output hardware e.g. ESP with WLED and many other controllers that receive data from Hyperion via network or USB.

LED strip HD107S or SK6812 RGBW
