HyperTizen: A Hyperion Capturer for Tizen (Samsung) TVs (2022+)

  • Hello, thank you for the add-on!

My goal is to connect Hyperion with WLED for SammyLight :P. I have already installed Tizen Brew. Now, I wanted to install HyperTizen afterward. However, I am encountering error 118.

I have re-signed the file using:

    tizen package -t tpk -s tizen -o release -- 1.tpk

But when I try to install it, I get the error:

app_id[io.gh.reisxd.HyperTizen] install failed[118, -4], reason: Operation not allowed:

What could be the problem? I followed the instructions to create the certificate.

  • That is, of course, very frustrating. However, I think my issue might be more related to the certificate. Really unfortunate for me. Could there be an update that supports my version?

    Think it's Tizen OS 5.0

  • Hello. I'm installing Hyper Tizen on a Samsung TV, but I can't figure out what to do next. The Hyperion NG server is configured on Mac OS, but the TV does not see it.

  • Where do I have to enter the command in tizen device manager to install it?

Unfortunately I can't get any further at this point. Can someone explain this to me?

  • I am having some trouble following your github page...

    Step 3. install the package:

    tizen install -n path/to/io.gh.reisxd.HyperTizen.tpk

Is there a command line somewhere or do we do this in TizenStudio? I am not sure where to enter this?

    Any support would be appreciated!

    Thanks

@denisenkor did you get this to work? I am at the same place you are...

  • Hi Reis! I got TizenBrew signed and installed, changed my IP to the loopback, and I thought I followed the directions at https://github.com/reisxd/Hype…/blob/main/docs/README.md ok, but I can’t seem to get HyperTizen to launch. It pops up an error and says to try a little while later. I also can’t seem to add the GitHub repo for the UI, it just doesn’t add. Any recommendations?

    Thanks!

  • I am in same position, I was able to Sign and install HomeBrew but when I install this package it just says to try again later. I never specified where the server is presume that's done when the app launches which it never actually does. I was not aware of the 127.0.0.1 thought that was a homebrew thing.

I have the same thing. Were you able to resolve it?

  • Thanks for your work Reis !

I actually got it to connect, but it says my TV does not support the required functions. Am I missing something or is my TV just incompatible?

    It's a Samsung S90D (QE65S90DATXXN) with Tizen 9 (2106)

  • Hey. Did anyone get HypertizenUI to install? There are some forks with some updates but nothing work.

  • Hi @jsiemonski
I tried intalling Hypertizen through the tpk file but it doesn't seem to open either.

However I re-signed the Tizen brew wgt file and was able to get the app installed on my tv.
Once I open up Tizen Brew and click on Hypertizen, it does launch and get connected to my Hyperion instance.

    As the logs display:

2025-10-30T15:55:03.299Z [WEBSOCKET] (DEBUG) (WebSocketJsonHandler.cpp:22:WebSocketJsonHandler()) New WebSocket connection from ::ffff:192.168.1.6 initiated via:
2025-10-30T15:55:03.300Z [WEBSOCKET] (INFO) JSON-API service is ready to process requests

However, I am unable to figure out if Hypertizen is sending any data out actually as no output is visible on my setup

Also, I figured out that once the service is connected, and i move back to home-screen on my TV, the service may not run in background for which I found:

Background/Foreground Execution: Tizen Web Apps & Hypertizen
    What the Docs Say

    • For a Tizen Web App to truly run in the background, your config.xml must include:
      • <tizen:setting background-support="enable"/>
      • At least one <tizen:background-category value="media"/> (or another allowed category relevant to your app)
    • This signals to Tizen that the app should be allowed to continue running even when not in the foreground.

      And the HyperTizen/HyperTizenUI/config.xml says:

      <tizen:setting background-support="disable" context-menu="enable" encryption="disable" hwkey-event="enable" install-location="auto" screen-orientation="landscape"/>

Is there a way to get it fixed

  • Reis

    Thank you for this.

Now, I got it installed to my TV.

    What next?

I've had hyperion in RasPI 2 & 3 in past, hardwired with Libreelec but now I'm bit lost.

I'd like to use hyperion server in virtual server and feed this to leds with wled.

I know how to program ESP's and have few of those running already with homeassistant and ledfx.

Ok, I got it kinda work but live image is not working..

My test ledbar is acatually showing same "image" as screen shot so hyperion part seems to work.
