Raspberry PI 5 Hyperion Installation help

  • Hi I have successfully installed Hyperbian on RP3 and have used it for years. Recently I upgraded to 2.0.16.

No I want to install Hyperion on a Raspberry Pi 5. I dont think the Hyperbian ARM64 is working. I have tried multiple SC Card and attempts. Also,

the device works fine with Raspbery PI OS Lite.

I tried manually installing Hyperion with the OS Lite but I got lost in errors and the instructions.

I am not a Linux power user so if anyone cares to help its going to have to be step by step.

Please help me. Ive been at this for 4 hours.

    My Setup uses Adalite,

Never mind. I found the install.sh and was able to create my own script on the pi and run that as an executable <3

Jeigh07 Not sure what errors you got in the first place, but I would not recommend the outline approach.

Users should use the easy install script from

    Hyperion-Project Repository

In addition, why do you advise others to run Hyperion under root. That weakens security without any need.

If there are challenges then let’s share the problems here rather than confusing other because of limited Linux knowledge.

If the HyperBian installation did not work out, it is often the problem that a different user-id was chosen than the default one and the documentation was not followed diligently.

    ?.................

You are using script to install Hyperion.NG on a Raspberry..

    Possibility:

Updating Hyperbian to newer version, just update first the installed (outdated) libraries with sudo apt-get update

After it you download the correct Hyperion.NG ARM version from Github that's suitable for your raspi ( for Raspberry 3 it's deb.V7)

Then you install it and it will update to last version, all configured settings should be saved after reboot

This total action is finished in 5 minutes ( just updated from 2.0.13 to build 2.0.16

To install Hyperion.NG on a empty build like Raspbian I will show that in a later post/ topic. Also Hyperbian..
