Where to start

    Hi,

    I've looked through lots of tutorials and many seem to offer different advice/solutions and I'm not sure where to start. I've got hyperion set up on my pi, and the capture card working I'm just struggling with the hardware/wiring. I have:

    -Raspberry pi 5 with hyperion installed

    -5m 60led/m WS2812B LEDS

    -EP32

    -3.3v to 5v logic level shifter

    -5v 20a power supply

    -Raspberry pi charger

    -Usb capture card

    -HDMI splitter

    I know how to get the spliiter/capture card sorted im just not sure about all the wiring for the leds and connecting it to the pi. Is the ESP32 needed or can the pi just control the LEDs directly, I've seen both options shown. Also not sure about the grounding and just general wiring needed.

    Sorry for such a basic question, it's my first time trying a project like this. If you could provide any help/links to a tutorial that cover this it will be extremely appreciated. Thanks

    WS2812b connects directly with RPI without ESP/WLED.

    For ws281X, root rights are needed for PWM.

    Use SPI, you can find more information with the board search.

    Correct connection of the Level switch on the RPI4
    I am using hyperyon.ng on my RPI4, but I have a problem, my APA102 LEDs blink randomly from time to time. I found information on this forum, this arises from the fact that the RPI GPIO pins give out 3.3 volts of voltage, and the APA102 LED strip accepts 5 volts. This can cause occasional outbreaks. I purchased a logic level converter like this to solve this problem

    But I could not figure out how I should connect it to the power circuit. Most of the pictures describing its connection assume that…
