Hyperion on pi4 kicks all other devices off network

  • hi all,

I have hyperbain on a pi4 and it is connected to wifi via a synology router with a dedicated/segregated network for Iot devices. All of the Iot devices (mostly esp32) are on a 2.4 channel.

When the pi connects it is running on 5ghz and everything else on the network stops responding... I can no longer connect with them...

I have tried to trouble shoot the router but since everything works great the moment the pi is powered down I am wondering if it is just the pi hogging bandwidth or something?. All other 5gzh devices (ex. Phone, laptop, pc) seem to still be ae to connect.

I am not aware of a router switching a whole network to 2.4 v 5, especially if it has a "smart conmect" feature.

I really don't want to have to go and make a seperate network/vlan to get everything to ay nicely..

    Does anyone have any ideas???

    Thanks!

  • Thanks for the reply pclin, that is the documentation I followed.

    Hyperion works just great.

The issues is when the Pi4 that it is running on is connected to WIFI, all other devices on that network stop working...

  • I found a work around although I do not love it...

I installed the raspberry pi OS and then ran Hyperion through that. It seems to be working now and not dominating the wifi network... I would still love to know why the hyperbain image was doing this and why.

If anyone else has had this issue, please let me know.

    thanks :)
