Ground Issue?

  • I have a set of LEDs that stop working, after a while I need to touch one of the connectors coming from the PSU to the LED strip so they can start working, I assume I'm being used as ground when I touch it and it is making the LEDs light up again but not 100% sure how to correct this behavior. When this happens the lights would be fine for 30 mins or so then they will just freeze until I touch that connector again.

My wiring componensts consist of a PSU, Pi3 and the LED strip.

The PSU is powering the Pi3 and LEDs and I'm using the Pi to send the signal to the LEDs using GPIO 18.

Has anyone experience this issue before?

  • What LEDs are you using? Do you have a multimeter? How long is your data line from Pi to stribe?

This will be a bad connection or cold solder joint.
