Hi there,
I've followed the instructions and I'm now facing a strange problem.
I've connected all my devices to my Sony AVR (STR DH-590).
The AVR is connected to a hdmi splitter (feintech vsp01222).
Output 1 from the hdmi splitter is connected to my TV
Output 2 from the hdmi splitter is connected (via USB Grabber MS2130) to my RaspberryPi (I have a zero 2w and a 3b+ to test with - but same result on both)
The hyperion live preview is only showing a black image.
I've connected the 2nd output from the hdmi splitter (without the grabber) to a 2nd tv device - which was displaying an image.
So it has to be a problem with the usb grabber.
I've then connected the usb grabber to a pc and tested the connection with VLC - which was working fine.
But when I've connected it to my linux pc and tried the VLC test again, I got a black image again.
So I'm sure it is a problem with the usb grabber in combination with linux.
Does anyone have an idea what I could try to get this working except from buying a new usb grabber?

Hyperion 2.1.1 has problems with USB grabbers. However, if it doesn't work on a Linux PC, it's not the problem.
The two monitors at the splitter output aren't conclusive proof, it depends on the capabilities.
Depending on what you're playing (resolution, HDCP, Dolby Vision), the issue could arise.
The grabber can only handle 4K 30 Hz at the input. The FeinTech has an autoscaler.
Please attach a Hyperion debug log as Hyperion-log.txt.
regards pclin
EDIT:
To test the grabber, just play an HDMI signal 1080 60 Hz (without splitter) and check in Hyperion and/or PC whether you get a picture.

Here is my debug log.
I've tested it like you said (without the splitter, but with AVR), but wasn't able to get anything else then a black screen.
But when I do it without the AVR (so HDMI signal to Grabber to PC/Hyperion) I do get an image.
Seems to me the combination with the ms2130 and my sony str dh590 could be the problem. -
Unfortunately no complete log!
Now please test whether there is a picture with the splitter (without AVR). Set the splitter to EDID Copy. Once everything is connected, restart the splitter (disconnect power).

Sony STR DH590 HDMI signal format: STANDARD or ENHANCED?

Tried it like you told me to (without AVR).
When restarting the splitter, the image appears for about half a second, but then disappears again immediately.
As for the modes on the AVR, I have already tried both, but could not detect any changes. -
Probably a problem with the splitter, Autoscaler and 4K 30 Hz grabber.
It would probably be better to use an Ezcoo 4K 60 Hz splitter and a grabber (10 €) that can handle 4K 60 Hz at the input.

So I've noticed that when I switch the input channel on the AVR to an empty channel and then starting the AVR option menu, I can see this menu with vlc on my linux pc - but when I switch to an active input channel the picture turns black again.
I've already tested it with a USB grabber from amazon "MACROSILICON UGREEN 15389" which had the same affect as the MS2130.
I will get a MS2109 grabber - could you recommend one? Cheapest one I'm finding is for around 20€ Reichelt
Also where can I download the complete log you are requesting?
Hyperion log section is providing the same as journalctl.
Kind regards

So I've received the recommendes usb grabber and with this grabber I was able to see the image on my linux pc with vlc.
Unfortunately in Hyperion it still didn't work.
I just received another usb grabber today (also based on the MS2109, but with 1080p/60hz output support) from amazon and with this grabber, everything is working fine. So finally I got my ambilight setup up and running.
Thanks for the support pclinhttps://www.amazon.de/dp/B0DYNYTRH2?tag=hyperioforum-21&ref=cm_sw_r_cso_cp_apan_dp_TMKNMYB4AY85W83ZH78S&social_share=cm_sw_r_cso_cp_apan_dp_TMKNMYB4AY85W83ZH78S - this is the working usb grabber I've ordered

If it works and you're happy, I am too.
