Wrong LED colors

  • Hello,

I have a problem. When I use the effect configurator, the LEDs are displayed with the correct colors, but when I watch a video, the colors are completely different. Black is blue, white is green, etc. The color sequence is 100% correct. I have four different grabbers, and until six months ago, they all worked with the correct colors. What could be the problem?

What does the live video from the grabber look like, and what are the colors of the show LEDs?

    regards pclin

  • The live video is showing a pink/purple color. My Fire TV Stick is connected to a splitter, and the signal from the splitter goes to an MS2130 grabber. I also have a 2109 grabber available, but the problem persists even when I switch grabbers. Everything worked perfectly until two months ago, but now I'm getting completely wrong colors. I'll be home around 6 PM, and I can upload a picture of the live video if you'd like.

Select Dynamic Range settings Adaptive on Fire TV.

High-contrast images (HDR) are always Dolby Vision and cannot be captured by any grabber.

  • Should I restart the Fire Stick, splitter, and Raspberry Pi after switching to Adaptive mode? I'll test it after work and give you feedback.

No, simply changing the setting is enough.

Adaptive Mode HDR and Dolby Vision still work if the content supports it. With Dolby Vision, of course, the colors will be inaccurate.

Another tip: use the "Fit to original frame rate" option.

I adjusted the settings on the Fire Stick as you suggested, but unfortunately the colors are still wrong. Everything worked perfectly until 2-3 months ago. Even when I use the effect configurator, it displays all the colors correctly, but not when I watch a video. The Amazon dashboard also shows completely wrong colors. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to take a screenshot of the live video, but I'll try tonight to take a picture of the live video and another one showing how the LEDs are lit. Maybe someone here can help me then. I'm starting to think my LEDs are broken, but all the colors are correct in the effect configurator.

live video is showing a pink/purple color?

Have you checked the hardware values of the grabber?

    Settings level Expert

    Code: MS2130
        brightness (int) : min=0 max=100 step=1 default=50 value=50
        contrast (int) : min=0 max=100 step=1 default=50 value=50
        saturation (int) : min=0 max=100 step=1 default=50 value=50
        hue (int) : min=0 max=100 step=1 default=50 value=50
    Code: Ms2109
                         brightness (int) : min=-128 max=127 step=1 default=-11 value=-11
                           contrast (int) : min=0 max=255 step=1 default=148 value=148
                         saturation (int) : min=0 max=255 step=1 default=180 value=180
                                hue (int) : min=-128 max=127 step=1 default=0 value=0

Es gibt auch Grabber bei denen min=0 und max=255 default=128 bei allen Werten haben.

Genauso Grabber die keine Hardware Einstellungen bieten.

  • Thanks pclin , I'll test it after work and give you feedback. I have this splitter. Is it important that HDMI Out A goes to the TV and HDMI Out B to the grabber, or does it not matter? My EDID setting is on TV Copy, and my grabber is an MS2130 connected to an RPi Zero 2.

This is a 4x2 matrix, Description or link, please.

On most devices, OUT 1 is connected to TV (EDID Copy). Read the description of your device.

Did you only test with FireTV?

    EDIT:

Please test EDID 0001, then reboot the devices after setting it up.

Does the matrix have a built-in scaler?

The MS2109 probably has a 1080p 60Hz input, the MS2130 a 4K 30Hz input. If you have a 4K TV and EDID Copy is enabled, neither grabber will receive a signal they can process.

  • reading along: from my experience with audio/video and KVM switches.

you supposed to begin with the last device in the chain.

so begin with power/sticking the grabber, then connect the HDMI from that to the matrix then power it, etc etc.

the last thing you do is activate the videosignal from the source.

in this way the EDID and/or HDCP will not malfunction

  • First, I'd like to thank you for your help. The LEDs are now 90% accurate. My only issue is that on the left and bottom sides of the TV, the white color appears slightly yellow, but not always. Sometimes it's a true white. What could be causing this?

    Probably a power problem.

Too few power feed points, poor connections, Power supply undersized.

How many LEDs, what type, and what power supply?
