  • Optimising idle energy usage

    Hi,


    i have been running Hyperion Ng for more than a year now and lately i have added smart plugs with powermeters integrated into my smarthome. What i have noticed, is that my idle power usage is around 20W, which adds up to 1 kWh per day (roughly)


    My setup at the moment is:

    Ws2815

    12V Psu from AliExpress
    NodeMcu
    RPI 4

    Y&H Grabber via USB
    Feintech Hdmi Splitter

    Hyperion NG


    On a Nogis 55 (some austrian brand where i dont have to pay public tv fees..)

    With a fire tv cube (as its a dumb tv)


    The setup is working 98% the time without any issues, but id like improve the idle usage


    What are some of the options i could try out? I thought about doing some automation with home assistant and the power meter (turn on ambilight when power usage > 80W)
    What are some good options i could try out?

    Hi, so i just tried the grabber on my laptop, i see the same errors as on the rpi. Also i noticed that my led is blinking red/orange.


    Oh sh*t i just found the problem... my HDCP stripper is the source for all the problems..
    Do i need an DHCP Stripper for the ezcap 269?
    Apparently no - i can watch Netflix in 4k

    After an restart (sudo service hyperion restart) and letting the grabber cooldown/unplug it for a while, the problem doesnt persist and the ambilight works perfectly... it looks like this starts to creep in after some uptime...


    I think i need to do some sort of remote control for starting/stopping hyperion

    Hey,
    around 6 months ago, i got myself the y&h ezcap269 from amazon and had that one plugged into my rpi 4 2gb. The setup worked out of the box with hyperion ng alpha 7
    I left the rpi and y&h plugged on for the last ~5 months (without using ambilight - rebuilt the strips with ws2815)


    Now that i got the setup running again, im noticing some errors (all visible in the live preview):
    - Short black screens (flickering)
    - Small freezes of the picture
    - Sometimes a black and white imagine noise picture


    What could be the cause for all of those errors? I tried hooking up a 120mm to cool my passive heatsinks ( which was quite hot)
    The grabber was also slightly hot, but even after it all cooled down i got those errors. The status (showing if the pi ever throttled or so) is 0x0, so no throttling or anything..


    Any ideas what might cause this and how i could fix that issue?

    Ja ich verwende den Y&H Grabber, ich habe die starke Vermutung das mein RPI Thermal throttelt und durch den Dauerbetrieb auch nicht abkühlt. (Habe auch den Lüfter abgesteckt, passiv wäre schon sehr geil).
    Ich habe gestern testweise x30 Verkleinerung eingestellt, dadurch sinkt ja die CPU Last und beim erneuten einschalten waren die Probleme weg, jetzt ist das flackern (wieder auf x16 gestellt) wieder da und Temp ist auf 82-83 Grad und zwischen zeitlich der Takt auf 1ghz runter, wodurch wahrscheinlich die Hardware/Software out of sync laufen?


    Werde mir wahrscheinlich einen neuen Rpi 4b (soll ja angeblich bessere Thermal Performance haben) mit 2gb + https://www.reichelt.at/gehaeu…html?&trstct=pos_12&nbc=1 holen

    Habe gestern meinen Y&H Grabber für 95€ von Amazon bekommen und ich bin sehr zufrieden damit. Das neue Hyperion Interface ist echt mega, Respekt an alle Entwickler!
    Der neue Grabber ist gefühlt plug and play, einfach hdmi nach dem Feintech Splitter und im Interface USB Video Grabber aktiviert - funktioniert direkt einwandfrei.
    Mittlerweile kann ich auch meinen HDMI Switch benutzen, ohne dass die LEDs nur Grün sind und ich das neustarten muss


    Ich habe die Hoffnung, dass der Grabber ohne Restarts dauerhaft funktioniert, da alle meine Hyperion Geräte (RPI, Fire TV Stick) grundsätzlich immer laufen


    Kann den Grabber nur empfehlen!

    Ich habe bei AliExpress den 4k Chip https://www.aliexpress.com/i/4000030380114.html für nur 73€ gefunden. Was sagst du zu der 1080p Variante? https://www.aliexpress.com/ite…ctList_81778965.subject_1 kostet immerhin nur mehr 55€ und kommt anscheinend, wenn man dem AliExpress Shop trauen kann, vom "richtigen" Hersteller. Habt ihr euch den RPI 4 mit 1,2 oder 4gb Ram gekauft? 1gb dürfte reichen oder?

    Was haltet ihr von AliExpress Capture Cards? Verwende im Moment den Feintech 4k mit Downscale (habe kein HDR auf dem Fernseher) + HDCP Entferner. Denkt ihr dieser/ähnliche https://www.aliexpress.com/ite…1602_6,searchweb201603_55 würden damit funktionieren?


    Was für einen RPI würdet ihr empfehlen? Im Moment benutze ich noch einen RPI 1


    Mein HDMI->AV verliert leider öfters die Verbindung und zeigt nur Blau/Grün abwechselnd bis zu einem Neustart an, würde da gerne auf was verlässlicheres umrüsten...

  • Fragen eines Neulings bezüglich der Bauteile

    Nimm lieber direkt das 10A Netzteil, das 6,5A wird wahrscheinlich reichen, aber die 1,5€ mehr sind jetzt auch nicht mehr entscheidend ;)


    Ob das ganze Konstrukt funktioniert ist, kann man im vorhinein nicht wirklich sagen, bei mir hat es mit ähnlichen Teilen eine Zeit lang funktioniert und dann plötzlich nicht mehr. Denke aber dass es funktioniert. Wegen CEC hilft meiner Meinung nach einfach nur ausprobieren.

    wie gut funktioniert dieser? Die 1/5 Bewertung sieht nicht so gut aus, werde den aber wahrscheinlich bestellen wenn er bei dir funktioniert



    Kennst du diesen Splitter? Laut Bild 4 kann man einen Fernseher mit 4k betreiben und den anderen mit 1080p/hdcp 1.4 sieht ja recht interessant aus

    Im thinking about getting this one and see if i can get a 4k signal without any ambilight stuff if i have a successful 4k signal im trying to hook up my old hdmi -> av converter. I think this wont work since the signal has hdcp 2.2 so i also plan on buying but i kind of dont want to, since this costs again 60 bucks. If i have the hdcp 1.4 signal i think my old simple converter might work

    Gibts da keine alternative zu dem HDFURYX? Du benutzt ja HDR, ich hab kein HDR (zb den ?)

    Do you know what would happen if i use for example this splitter:
    with this 4k converter from maxcl
    Would i only get a 1080p signal at my tv or nothing at all?

    Hey, i already built 2 setups with ws2812b, raspberry pi 3 and the default hdmi switch/splitter. These 2 setups only used 1080p, but now i have a new shiny 4k tv (https://nogis.at/produkt/nogis-one-55-2?v=1 , without a tv tuner, so i dont have to pay for public tv in austria ;)) and a fire tv stick 4k to have something to view on.


    I now plan on integrating a hdmi switch, so i can switch between my computer and fire tv stick. My primary source is the fire tv stick, because for the pc i "only" have a r9 390 for which i have to buy a active displayport to hdmi 2.0 adapter


    I read the https://hyperion-project.org/t…-splitter-supposedly.631/ thread, but i really dont understand which is the best splitter to choose. Since i dont have any fancy features like hdr , 10 bit, dolby vision etc l think i only need a simple 4k splitter, or am i wrong?


    I also read that i may need a splitter with 4k to 1080p downscale for the av converter, does somebody know if this is true?


    What do parts do you guys recommend for this "pipeline", does anybody have a similar setup and might want to post their parts?


    I think my setup is going to look like this:


    Fire TV Stick 4k -> HDMI Switch -> HDMI Splitter -> TV
    Computer -> R9 390 -> Club 3d DisplayPort -> Hdmi Converter -> -> Hdmi to AV -> AV -> USB -> Raspberry Pi 3 -> Arduino Nano -> WS2812B
