Thank you to all who read it, I spent a lot of time on this and tried to be thorough where I felt it was neccessary.

    I’m very lost have tried a bunch of different things;

With the Shadowcast 2 pro I tried

1: a cheap hdmi splitter that had no hdcp protocol in hopes it would allow a signal from the shield to the capture card

2: changing resolution on the shield

Then tried the elgato 4k x capture card and got the same results works beautiful using my laptop but then when switching to the shield it shows a “no signal” screen when viewed from the web interface.

Unless like you said it’s due to signals the grabber can not process.

So now I need to figure out how I could achieve what I have achieved with my laptop but also be able to have Hyperion work with my shield again too. Maybe a second grabber? I’m up for ideas.

Okay, I found a fix. On the nvidia shield tv in developer options you can change the hdcp option. This got the grabber to instantly work.

    Hey all,

Looking for some insight here. I recently picked up the Genki Shadowcast 2 Pro capture card due to its ability to capture hdr and vrr. When I have my laptop as the input my ambilights work absolutely fantastic, but when I switch over to my shield tv pro the lights do not do anything. When going into the web interface the live view shows a black screen. I’m trying to figure out why the input of my laptop would work fine but not my shield pro.

My setup goes like this, hdmi matrix with two outputs, one output directly to my tv and one output to my capture card, then capture card into a raspberry pi. All my devices go into the matrix; my shield pro, laptop, Nintendo switch etc.

There are now external grabbers (€250) for 4k 120hz HDR.

VRR, DolbyVision can currently. none, but you get a picture on the display.

Hyperion works with priorities, which you can use to switch.

See Hyperion > Remote Control > Source Selection.

    regards pclin

I was trying to avoid spending the $250 on the capture card I found that would achieve this with my current setup.

I figured using what I have I could just have another instance of Hyperion on my laptop but that’s when the question of, “how do I automatically switch between instances” came about.

Also I’m still a bit of a beginner when it comes to the more advanced settings and am a bit confused about the Hyperion remote control. Is this something I’d be able to implement in my SofaBaton x1 smart universal remote so I could set up an activity to automatically switch the instance of Hyperion.

Thanks on advance and thanks for your current information!

Okay let me explain, I want to play 4k 120hz HDR with g sync enabled on my new Hisense U7K tv. But realized this is not something I can do with a capture card and Hyperion on a raspberry pi 4, as my laptop and tv bug out but when I shut Hyperion off it works perfectly fine.

So now I’m trying to figure out the easiest way to run Hyperion on my laptop to control the same led strips that my raspberry pi do, but when I game with my laptop on the tv my laptop will control the LEDs instead of the pi. I have searched for documentation on a multi software setup but haven’t found anything so seeing what the easiest way to go about this is.

Currently I’m thinking I’d have to disable one before enabling the other (turn off Hyperion on the Pi before enabling Hyperion on my laptop)

Any advice is extremely appreciated. Also any side notes on getting a capture card that handles VRR and if Hyperion can work properly with VRR even would be great!

I love the feature of segments and allowing only certain segments to be controlled by the software, but I would love to be able to use a single controller and have each segment that is in wled to be able to be their own instances so that I could have multiple light scenarios controlled by the software and easily be able to tell the software what is going on with each segment.

    Hey everyone.

I bought a new tv and decided to do a fresh install of hyperbian on the pi 4 that I use. When going into the pi it states that Hyperion is stopped, I can manually start it but then if I reboot the pi the service does not automatically restart.

I’m lost as to where to fix this, my old install never gave me this issue and would auto restart the service on reboot of the device. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hey everyone,

New here, pretty capable with figuring things out. I’ve done my entire hyperbian setup with just searching what’s already currently on the web.

This is a bit of a two for one, a question and an issue.

So I’m running a raspberry pi 4 for the hyperbian image on it and I have it in a case with a fan. I’d like to be able to adjust my properties for when the fan runs but due to the hyperbian image I can not ssh into the raspberry pi to be able to control the fan through the gpio pins. I’d love for some leads on how I can go about achieving this as, yes my noctua A4x10 fan is practically silent compared to the Raspberry Pi case fan I originally had, but I definitely don’t need it running 24/7.

As for the second part of this, I’m noticing that during use of the TV and Hyperion either Hyperion cuts out due to poor connection to my wifi or for some reason my WLED setup is taking over randomly. So to explain, I have my WLED setup for an all purple light, when I turn my tv on I go into the WLED app and turn off over ride mode so that Hyperion controls the lights. In the background WLED is set to purple lights with Hyperion over riding that control. Randomly the lights will all turn purple while watching a show. Secondly I will have the TV off and the lights will turn off due to no input signal to Hyperion, in the WLED app the Hyperion is still over riding the WLED control as I don’t always switch this to have lights on. Out of no where the lights will turn on the my WLED settings and then immediately turn off. At night when I’m trying to go to bed this can be a nuisance.

Some additional background, I’m utilizing my setup completely wirelessly right now, and I’m using a crappy Xfinity modem (soon to be replaced). I’m also going to work on getting a wired Ethernet connection to my setup as I believe this might solve the issue. But if anyone thinks this is being caused by something else please let me know as I’d like to fix both of these concerns immediately.

    Again thank you!
