That's great, I confirm it works! The preview window shows only one frame and the LEDs follow. The performance is awesome as well! Good stuff!

I'll keep this version as long as a stable release will be issued. Thank you veeeery much!

    Hello,

I have seen this but i cannot download it, The artifact for Windows appears as a text to my browser not as a link unfortunately.

Is there something i can do to get the file?

    Thanks again for your patience!

    Kind Regards

Ok so after testing a bit and playing with the settings, the NV12 encoding format does not give satisfying results. I am switching back to MJPEG for now. Is there any future plan to implement 3D scenarios to MJPEG?

    Thanks

    M

You are awesome... I set it up to NV12 and it works... I will check during the evening if there is any delay caused, set up the skip frames if any and set up a good resolution to avoid hurting my CPU :)

BTW, is there any way to make the Video Format (2D, 3DSBS, 3DTAB) exposable to Home assistant as an entity? Then i am able to set automations to switch automatically!

    Problem is solved!

    Of course!

Under the crop values there is one more tick box called Signal Detection. I tried to enable it but it didn't work either.

Should you need more information please let me know.

I have my log level to warning and it is empty log. So no major issues... I still don't understand if it is a Hyperion problem.

What i can say, is that the source is an android TV Box and when i play 3D content, also the TV does not recognize it as 3D and automatically switch to 3D. I have to manually press the 3D button and switch to Side By Side.

Yeap, the capture card presents a 3DSBS image to Hyperion. The preview window shows the 2 half image. When I go to "Menu / Remote Control / Video Mode and I select 3DSBS it doesn't change... The preview window still shows 2 half image and the LEDs correspond to this. Here is a screenshot with the 3DSBS active:

    Hi

which version of Hyperion are you using?
With Hperion.NG 2.013 it should work. I just testet it.

Alternatively, the standalone grabbers (started via command line) support 3DSBS including the one for an external Grabber

Do a hyperion-v4l2 --help to get the details.

Hello, thanks for the quick reply...

I have the version 2.013 but I am not sure if it is the NG. Here is what I have in the about section of the webui:

I have never used the command line yet so I am not sure how. If it is outlined somewhere in the documentation could you please share a link?

    Thank you again!

    Hello,

I would like to ask if 3DSBS capture is possible with external grabbers. Does the capture card need to support it?

I am using Hyperion for some time now and I was sure that if I use the internal grabbers and switch in 3DSBS from the Hyperion webui it works.

I recently switched to an external Grabber and setting it from the webui has no effect. The preview window still shows 2 half of the image and that is sent to the LEDs.

The capture card I use is the following:

I cannot find anywhere in it's settings a 3D switch.

    Could you please help?

    Thanks

    Hi,

Thank you for your reply! Actually i did try to change the FPS to 30 and to 60 but something strange is happening. The first time i make the change, i have a smooth image. If i leave it for a couple of hours and then try to watch a movie again it comes chopped again even on that FPS.

My LAN is Gigabit and both the TV box and the NUC that hyperion is installed are connected via LAN.

I know that it is not a Hyperion problem because the QT Grabber works correctly. I am kind of having the impression that since the grabber was not updated for so long time, it may not fully support Android 10 (this is the version my TV box has).

I think that the best way is to really order an HDMI splitter and capture card.

I was looking at the following:

    Capture Card

    HDMI Splitter

    any opinions?

My Nuc does not have USB 3.0 (it is an older one) but it's nowdays difficult to find USB 2.0. Also my TV is just 1080p so hopefully it will work.

    Hello everyone,

I would like advice on the Hyperion Android Grabber settings as my video seems to be loosing frames (please check the video below).

    My Setup is the following:

Hyperion is installed on a NUC and the LEDs are controlled via a NodeMCU with WLED.

For Grabber, i use the Hyperion Android Grabber which is installed on my Android TV Box.

Both devices (the nuc and the android TV box) are connected via ethernet cable.

The issue i face, is that i don't have a smooth lighting on the LEDs even if smoothing is enabled. It seems during screen capturing it is loosing frames. Please check below video to see it's performance:

    Video

Here is also a screenshot of the settings in Hyperion Android Grabber:

The priority is set to 100 so it will come first and for the capture rate, i selected just 10 fps. Is my configuration wrong? Is there anyone that have similar setup that can share with me the best settings?

    Thank you very much

    Kind Regards

    M

I guess you are right, i have to wait for my LEDs to arrive and test. I just asked the question here in case someone has such a setup because if there is latency, i would like to order a capture card the soonest possible as it takes a month for goods to arrive.

Maybe another question in the meantime, i have seen there is a dedicated windows screen cap grabber available. What is the difference with the QT method? Better, worse, same?

    Thanks again

    Hello Everyone,

This is my first post here, i hope you are all well!. I would like to ask a simple question regarding screen capture on windows.

I have installed Hyperion on Windows 10 on an Intel NUC that i use as my media center. Usually i consume content via plex or Kodi. I also have bought a NodeMCU that i have flashed with wled and ordered an individually addressable LED strip that is on the way. Intention is to use this for ambient lighting behind the TV without a capture card.

The question is about the performance of the Build-in QT capture method. Will there be a significant delay? Should i order a capture card as well?

If yes, is there a cheap but supported capture card recommendation?

Thank you very much and apologies if the question has been asked multiple times, unfortunately i didn't find a clear answer to the question while searching.

    Thanks again

    Kind Regards
