I bought a LG B1 with Version 03.21.10 and successfully rooted the TV.
Initially I had trouble getting PicCap to work, but a guy on the Discord channel helped me a lot. Now everything works perfectly.
The next step will be to replace the Pie with an ESP and WLED. I hope it will be an easy swap.

After a lot of research (most of the information came from this great forum) I ordered everything for my setup and today I put it into operation for the first time. Just testing on a Philips Ambilight TV before I buy the LG B1 to use PicCap.
Overall I'm satisfied. Surprisingly, everything worked right away. I use a Raspberry Pie and the SK8612 30/m. Power comes from a 50 watt 10A power supply.
Unfortunately, the brightness or the lack of brightness bothers me a bit. Everything is very dark. I've already tried all possible settings in the webapp. If I lower the gamma it gets a bit brighter but also fainter. If I turn on the backlight it gets much better, but then of course I also have light with a black picture and I don't want that.

What surprises me: with the SK6812spi, the brightness is not very bright with a pure white picture. Its ok, but not very bright. Power Consumption approx. 9 watts.
However, when I set WS2812spi, colors no longer work, but the light that comes from LEDs is extremely bright and the power consumption is 18 watts. So they seem to be going brighter somehow.
Does anyone have any ideas what else I could try?

Yes i want the C1. It's the best for Gaming and affordable. The best feature is 4k 120hz with VRR. The Philips TVs are advertising this, but they cut the vertical resolution in half and output a stretched 3840x1080 picture. They promised a software update to fix this but it has not arrived yet.
The hardest thing for me at the moment is to find out which specific products I should buy to succeed.
Which LEDs? I want a 3 sided Ambilight, so 3m in total should be fine for the 55 Zoll Model. (1,23m + 71cm +71cm)
The LEDs should be able to show all colors + white.
How do I connect the LEDs with the Raspberry pie?

In dem Raum ist ein LAN Anschluss, diesen würde ich dann erweitern. So könnte ich auch gleich meinen AppleTV mitversorgen.

I have no intention of using internal apps or any other smart features. The TV is just a display. All my content will come from external sources. Gaming PC, PS5 and an AppleTV 4K. So I don't mind using an older OS.

Ich habe noch ein paar Raspberry Pies (3er) rumliegen. Wäre also kein Problem für mich einen davon zu verwenden.
Braucht man dann trotzdem einen ESP für die LEDs oder kann man die direkt am Raspberry Pie anschließen?
Wie würde es sich äußern wenn man bei der ganzen Geschichte doch ausschließlich WLAN verwendet? Ich habe keinen freien LAN Port mehr. Würde die Latenz arg leiden? Alternativ könnte ich natürlich einen HUB verwenden.
Wie verhält sich die Beleuchtung wenn man den Fernseher in Standby schickt und nach einigen Stunden wieder aktiviert? Geht alles automatisch mit an und aus?
Ich hätte große Lust direkt zu bestellen und zu basteln. Falls es nicht wirklich funktioniert wärs halt recht aufwändig alles inklusive Fernseher zurückzuschicken. Das hält mich grad noch ein wenig ab.

Ich hatte eigentlich vor mir einen neuen Philips Ambilight Fernseher zu kaufen.
Allerdings fehlen bei den aktuellen Modellen immer noch Features die mir wichtig sind.
Die LG Modelle vor allem der C1 wäre für meine Anforderung sehr geeignet. Auf Ambilight möchte ich aber nicht verzichten.
Bin vor einigen Tagen auf die Möglichkeit mit PicCap und Hyperion gestossen und hab mich eingelesen. Ein paar Sachen sind mir allerdings noch nicht ganz klar:
Was genau braucht man alles? Ist kein Raspberry Pie mehr nötig wenn Hyperion auch auf dem Lg installiert ist?
Die LEDs sind ja an diese kleine Platine angeschlossen, wie kommuniziert die mit dem TV?
Ich hab auf dem Discord Server gelesen das Leute teilweise eine extrem hohe Auslastung des Intranets hatten wenn PicCap & Hyperion lief. Ist das ein allgemeines Problem?
Grundsätzlich würde mich noch interessieren wie zuverlässig das ganze am Ende läuft. Ich hab nichts dagegen mir viel Zeit zu nehmen und alles einzurichten, aber ich möchte ungern jede Woche neu rumbasteln weil etwas nicht funktioniert.
Würde mich sehr freuen wenn sich jemand kurz Zeit nehmen würde um zu helfen. Viele Grüße
