  • Pi Zero2 W Hardware

    So to give an update... I got it working. I bought a Pi4 and did some test with the different adapters that I had going both over usb2 and usb3 since the Pi4 has both. One of my HDMI splitters didn't work with the capture loop, the other two did on both usb 2 and 3. So I dialed in the setting on the Hyperion interface to make sure I knew what settings would and would not work. I transposed those settings to my Pi Zero. The capture device would not be recognized not matter what usb to micro usb adapter I used, so that HDMI splitter and capture device were out. The last HMDI splitter has a dedicated usb3 out cable and was recognized on the Pi4 in both usb 3 and 2 ports. Only one of the usb to micro adapter would be seen by the Pi Zero. The last issue that I found was that the Pi Zero wanted to use the usb power and did not like sharing power directly with the LED strip that I had previously connected to the same power supply. So I have the official Pi power brick, probably doesn't have to be, to power the Pi Zero and a separate usb 5v 3a usb charger to power the LEDs. I had to loop the negative back into the pi zero ground due to a signal issue that was happening. After that its been smooth sailing, my kids love the extra colors.

    I have hyperion setup on a raspberry pi zero2 w. The web interface works well and the LED strip that I have connected is responsive to the changes that I make in the web browser. What I cannot get to work is the HDMI input to the micro USB 2.0 on the Pi. I have tried three different splitters with a different HDMI to USB 2.0 two different USB to micro USB adapters and nothing registers as a USB option for input. I have also tried to go straight from my laptop, as a test, into a HDMI capture to USB with no better result. The mini HDMI on this Pi is only for output not input as I was hoping, unless I am missing something. If anyone can personally recommend hardware that would be greatly appreciated, or if someone knows how to have the HDMI out changed from output to input that would also solve a problem.
