I would also be interested in this solution. I have a Odroid C2 and currently run 40 WS2812 with my Raspberry Pi3 and a level shifter. I want to switch to the Odroid and I was thinking that APA102 Leds would be more universal because of the less strict timing requirements. But have not found any examples of someone using the Odroid for this.
