I picked openelec because I have no need for a GUI. I havent used OSMC or Kodi in years. Either use titanium tv or tv zion . I also read that there was some type of issue with the hdmi cable needing to be plugged in for osmc to work. Bascially all my rpi is doing is controlling the lights. Im sure many people see this as a waste but Rpi's arent expensive at all.

are you using ws2812 Led's ? My last system had apa-102's and the whole process was a lot easier BUT IMHO the WS2812's are easier to solder if needed.

what isnt actually working. Can you get any response from your led's I technically have 300 LED's but have about 26 disabled.

Thanks for the reply. I got everything working now. I wasn't getting a response from the leds because I wired the new PSU wrong. Also, had to add a delay in the hyperion config. Everything is working great now. Thanks for your help.

FINALLY!!! Looks like I needed to add a delay. I set it to 500, becasue that's what I read someone else used. Not sure if it needs to be that long, but hey, it works. Just some tweaking to the crop and I should be golden. Thanks for the help.

Now if someone could just find a splitter that will work with 4K HDR, this would be perfect...or at least a really good one at all.

Thanks. That did help. So now it's started, and it responds to the app, but how do I get it to react to the grabber?

I am able to take screenshots, so hypercon is seeing it. Is there a setting I need to tweak. Black boarder perhaps...I DID see something in the log stated "border type unknown" or something to that affect. Also, are there SUPPOSED to be blackborders around my screenshot?

Okay. So now I'm getting a error:

ssh in: Jan 22 00:19:20 osmc hyperiond[2420]: Opening UART: /dev/ttyUSB0
ssh in: Jan 22 00:19:20 osmc hyperiond[2420]: Unable to open RS232 device (IO Exception (2): No such file or directory, file /home/sascha/hyperion/dependencies/build/serial/src/impl/unix.cc, line 100.)
    ...
ssh in: Jan 22 00:19:42 osmc hyperiond[2420]: Device unblocked

ssh in: Jan 22 00:19:42 osmc hyperiond[2420]: Device blocked for 3000 ms

And these last 4 lines just repeat. Anyone know how I can fix this? That folder/user does not exist. Should it?

Okay. So I figured out why the LEDs weren't responding. The new PSU was connected incorrectly. So, I back to having a startup config, which just says that the Arduino is working. I was also able to troubleshoot my grabber. Turns out the HDMI2AVI converter wasn't sending the signal. NOTE to anyone having issues with this, the converter has to be powered on with external power and hook up to the hdmi source, and the USB grabber BEFORE you turn on the grabber. Now I go to figure out how to tweek the colors, but at least now my leds are working AND I can grab a screenshot.

By the way, does anyone no how to make the colors darker? Also, is it necessary to power the LEDs from both ends? If so, what type of wires would work best?

with this sketch you dont need a prefix

I had mine working and now I don't know what's wrong. I get no LEDs. I've tried switching from nano to an uno, stronger power supply, and even tried switching the wires to my other set of WS2812B LEDs...nothing. Is there an up-to-date guide on setting this up? I thought I was almost there and now it looks like I have to start from scratch. My hypercon won't even connect anymore. I'm completely lost. The RPi3 is still working.

Thanks. Is there a reason you went with openelec over osmc? Also, would you mind letting me know what guide you used to set yours up. Mines was almost good (I think) now nothing is responding. I want to start from scratch and see if I can get this working somehow. I had 276 LEDs. I'm thinking of using 274 and trying to atleast somewhat duplicate your results. I'm about ready to just buy a Dreamscreen and call it quits. I don't know if TPModder is a person or a group, but they may be stretch pretty thin, so any help from you would be appreciated. I'd hate to keep bugging him/them.

Sorry it took me so long to respond. Was busy during holidays. To answer your question, no they were just powered from the bottom right corner. And I actually just realized that I wasn't giving it enough power.

I've since purchased a 5V 20A PSU and wired it up, but I'm getting no response now. Could my LEDs be dead; or the nano? The Ard. nano still lighting up, but it doesn't seem to be sending any signals to the LEDs.

I tried reuploading the sketch to see if I could at least get the start up animation, but nothing. Is there a way to check the components?

    Any help would be appreciated.

YAH!!! Okay, so it's not picking up the grabber (i don't think), but atleast now the Hyperion app effects work and I can change the color. PROGRESS!!! Now I just need help with the image capture. How do I check the USB grabber???

**NOTE**Whenever press the power button on the Hyperion app it goes back to the image above. It doesn't respond to HyperCon test images, nor the colorwheel in Hyercon.

Ok so now I have a new development. My LEDs new go from white to orange (kinda orange on the left more reddish on the right) twice on startup, THEN ends on this:

**NOTE** The LEDS on the right side were on in the startup animation, but they are off now. Checking hyperion config and trying to remeber which Arduino Nano sketch is on there. I don't believe I changed either of the 2 above. Just finished painting and had to reconnect everything. Before, the LEDS was doing that startup prior to painting, but they would just turn off after. Now they are like it is in pic.

Once I have everything working I'll be making an enclosure to house everything.
