Hi,
I enabled the Signal Detection option in the USB Capture settings to set color thresholds. I try to reduce grabbed noise in black pictures. Red, green and blue thresholds seems to have no effects. The output to the LEDs doesn't change.
Even with 100% thresholds the grabber forwards the detected colors to hyperion. No matter if it gets a black or colored picture.
I run Hyperion 2.0.0-alpha.8. Same HW setup worked with the old Hyperion.
I have the same issue and question 
How can I solve this issue in hyperion-ng. I can't find a setting to specify the number of connected leds similar to "leds" : 90
I don't plan to cut it.
But, I found a solution in the git logs of the APA102 driver files.
I can specify the number of physically connected LEDs in the Device section of the Hyperion config with
"leds" : 90
Then it works fine.
Maybe this information should be written to the wiki and included into HyperionCon.

I just started with some Apa102. Everything works fine, but the last LED + 1 is always white.
Is this an option of Hyperion or maybe a hardware problem?
