i haven´t got a extra controller for the LEDs... that´s why i wanted to use the PWM method... but that doesn´t work
Hyperion WEbUI ledcontroller >> at section leds
you can use PWM but probably you have to run Hyperion.NG under root.
run hyperion as root only with this configuration (device 'ws281x) PWM
you don't have this config because you try to steer sk6812 leds.
for that you have to use the SPI controller then, PWM sk6812 is not in libraries of Hyperion.NG
try the connection like this
( LV3 comes from GPIO10 in your case)
( LV4 and HV4 you dont use ofcourse)
power and GND still remains the same for 3 or 4 wire ledstrip setups.

My thought was to use a TUYA Smart Plug to turn off power to the LEDs PSU (probably separate from the Pi's PSU
i have them switched by relais, 5 volt line on ledstrip is switched by press on the button.
GND and SPI bus stay connected, no problems whatsoever.

there's a line in config.txt to uncomment about the pi4 and dispmanx
[pi4]
# Enable DRM VC4 V3D driver on top of the dispmanx display stack
#dtoverlay=vc4-fkms-v3d
#max_framebuffers=2
don't know if that helps or doing something but its worth to try it out.

I also tried the SPI (with the sk6812spi setting) but when i connect it to the GIPO 10 it just lights up white and not with the effect i chose
do you have a picture of the connections or diagram ?
what is the baudrate setting of sk6812spi controller?

Hi, could you please tell us what exactly is the usb grabber you are using / where to buy it? There are a lot of clones of these analog grabbers with different chips inside. I bought one bastech but with macrosilicon chip - that does not work on linux.
if i do dmesg in terminal, output is this
4.532865] usb 1-1.1.2: New USB device found, idVendor=534d, idProduct=0021, bcdDevice= 1.21
[ 4.532884] usb 1-1.1.2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
[ 4.532894] usb 1-1.1.2: Product: AV TO USB2.0
[ 4.532905] usb 1-1.1.2: Manufacturer: MACROSILICON
[ 4.532914] usb 1-1.1.2: SerialNumber: 20150130
[ 4.551792] hid-generic 0003:534D:0021.0001: hiddev96,hidraw0: USB HID v1.10 Device [MACROSILICON AV TO USB2.0] on usb-3f980000.usb-1.1.2/input4
so Basetech capturing device with Macrosilicon video chip works on my system Raspbian buster full ( LINUX)

hello!
GPIO setting is wrong, ( 20 is for SPI 1)
you can run the strip on SPI or PWM
running on
PWM, GPIO 18 (or 12)
for PWM disable audio in config.txt
dtparam=audio=off
running on
SPI, GPIO 10 ( +11 CLK )
for SPI >> activate SPI controller in config.txt
dtparam=spi=on

Do you think that rpi 4 would recognize hdmi to usb cable? It is compatible with Linux
maybe, i don't have PI4 so can't say. Most USB capturing devices are detected and recognized by Hyperion.NG
its HDMI to USB so chance is that it'll work.
when u have it, stick it in the PI and give a command in terminal,
lsusb
if the device is in there you'll see it, probably will be recogized also then by Hyperion.NG

install Hyperbian, its OS with Hyperion.NG implemented
https://github.com/hyperion-pr…an/releases/tag/HyperBian
easyest way
SD card
( remove the format FAT32, so you'll have a empty volume) its better for the OS, you can do that with diskmanager in Windows
Take the image (zip) and copy it to SD card
start it up and finish.
Hyperbian is the newest 2.09 Alpha

Since the LEDs and pi are not connected to the same power supply
thats good to look at that, and also take a look at your barrel connector> they are not equiped for that much current
fix that diffrent, there was a person that also fixed the issue by leaving the barrel connector out and using thicker gauge wires
dont forget to solder everything! makes sure a low resistance connection ( you dont want high resistance with low voltages..)
goodluck

Do you know of any usb grabber with loop that would work and wont break the bank? (under $100)
i don't know grabbers with LOOP, but the one i have is from Xolorspace type 61121 and works really well
https://xolorspace.com/product…th-downscaler-4k-to-1080p
my setup is Nvidia shield TV PRO>
Out1] Xolorspace splitter > HDMI channel 1 4KTV
Out2] xolorspace splitter > HDMI/AV converter > 720p USB grabber > Raspi 3b
that easy, CEC/HDCP works no problems with signals from the Nvidia shield TV PRO
ARC/eARC is separate on diffrent HDMI channel 2 on TV because AVR isn't a 4K type and can not cope with 4K resolutions.
I am using a HDMI audio extractor for that to AVR.
-
I am not sure what you are trying to tell me here mate.
i thought i was clear, but anyway.
I understand that you have the setup with only one HDMI ARC port> i am telling you you can do it diffrent, its your choice.
2 scenarious.
- only one HDMI channel in use on the tv for everything, possible but sometimes a hassle with external devices/capturing etc..
- 2 HDMI channel in use on tv. ARC HDMI channel ONLY for AVR, HDMI main channel on tv for TVIp box/Nvidia shield or anything else.
in second setup you don't have to deal with ARC problems in your Hyperion.NG build, because the ARC channel is separate.
I have it like that.
i can not be any clearer to explain what i am talking about.
and don't want to do this here on this thread, its only going to be difficult for others to understand > its not actual topic so i want to leave it at this.

Does the device affect the ARC functionality of an existing setup.
so really short,
ARC most of times is a diffrent HDMI port *(2) on your tv, that is connected to AVR
HDMI port *(1) then is used for main signal, whatever you do there should not interfere anything on port HDMI 2, thus.. HDMI 2 is only copying sound from other HDMI ports. Of course you can use port 2 not only for ARC/eARC, but then it can interfere the sound to AVR.
the setup i am talking about isn't.
* (1) (2) is just an example.
second.
AliExpress and Amazon cheap LOOP capturing devices are probably not equiped much to deal with CEC/ARC/eARC/HDCP or any other protocol that excists on HDMI.
like this, https://nl.aliexpress.com/item…b201602_,searchweb201603_
its not in the specs..

but I get white signal noise instead of hdmi capture. Only way to fix it is to unplug hdmi from my xbox and plug it back in.
i think you have a EDID and or HDCP problem, has nothing to do with Hyperion.
with EDID the device answers back, splitters/LOOP devices dont have that option which sometimes give problems at the source.
the problem is that the device doesn't know there is a signal to begin with.
HDCP problems make sure the signal from the source is not received by the device >> protection/security
only way to fix this is use of a good splitter which supports EDID/HDCP
-
did you set these?
Go to the WebUI and menu USB grabber;
Device; USB video: USB video
Input; Camera1 ( or higher)
Resolution; in 16/9 lowest as possible and then build up the resolution
Size decimation; set to at least 4 until 12 >> the higher count, the worse image
Frames a second; 15FPS or go lower and higher.

Reason for my post is for some reason the blackbar detector just isn't doing anything
i have noticed that if you have backlight ON/treshold of backlight is high, the blackbar detector almost don't work
i have it like this
-
good man! i am happy for you because you shure had your share of problems and overcome them
happy easter to you too.

i see that you have more than one instance, are you sure you selected the default one like instance one
and have all the settings correct for the apa102?
to select, just run the instance at remote and then choose the instance thats running into top corner ( screen icon) has to become an green dot.
note; only instance one you can controll in the app Hyperion Free the others don't work so you can not test in instance two with an app.
note2; use flux when you solder because the solderjoints seem to overlap contact each other. with flux/no clean you have a solid and clean connection.

i turn of the pi like on/off Button on Kable.
On my PI2 it works also since 3
yes i did that to before, but people made me aware that it can hurt the SD card to bluntly cut of power of the PI.
now i use a start/stop script on GPIO 3 to gentfully sign off the PI > goes into sleep > then cut the power
or others there leave the PI always on.
its possible hyperion is still running, can you execute hyperiond in the terminal?
if it is respond will be " hyperion deamon is already running"
if its not try to start it,
