Hyperion not communicating with arduino

  • At least that's what I think. My setup is almost identical to the one TheMadScientist has on YouTube.

    I'm running:

LibreElec 9.2.0 on a new Raspberry Pi 4
    Arduino NodeMCU ESP8266
WS2811 12v strip (Which has 75 LEDS but is controlled per 3, so I'm using 25 as input, connected on pin D5 on the arduino)

I've been able to load Hyperion onto Kodi on the Pi. I've checked in the add-on files and the config file is where it's supposed to be.

The arduino fires up it's booting routine as soon as it is connected to power. I've also done a strandtest and the LEDs works fine.

I've tried a lot of different tutorials with FastLED, Adafruit and Neopixel. I just haven't been able to get a single response out of the LEDs. Is my NodeMCU the problem? Or the LEDstrip? Or should I go buy a Raspberry Pi 3? Although I'm new to raspberry pi I have a bit of knowledge of Arduino and I'm no stranger to coding stuff..

When I try to set the LED to a color using the color wheel in Hypercon I either get "Not connected to Host" (that's the situation right now) OR it says "Set the color to 15 87 221 (or whatever RGB code I had selected)." But nothing came through to the lights.

I don't know where to look anymore. Can anyone help me out?

Here's the arduino sketch I'm running right now:
