What about add a button in hypercon SSh Tab to reboot the Pi (with a dialog bx to confirm reboot) ?
Suggestion - reboot Raspberry via HyperCon

Like the idea , moved thread to the proper location and renamed title a bit.
Seems like it would be fairly easy to do as we already send ssh comands over the wire but @Brindosch knows that best. -
Also maybe a bit of logic to test if the user is doing an install vs an update, because after a fresh install there need to be a reboot to pickup the spi flag, correct?
-
Yep that indeed needs a reboot as it changes a boot flag setting
-
Implementation would be easy, but could you explain a little why?
If you start the intall via HyperCon a reboot is already forced - in case spi is added to config.txt -
On a Hyperion update no reboot is required. If you use the command line install no reboot is forced, but you get a notice to do once.
-
Oh sorry, didn't realize there was already a reboot being forced by the GUI. Looks like the image I'm using "OpenELEC 5.0 with STK1160/UTV007 compatible kernel RPI 1", already has an older version of Hyperion pre-installed, so when I used the install/upgrade button it was just doing an upgrade thus no reboot was being forced.

Yes, the script stops hyperion, install the new one, start it again.
So at the time the script finished, the latest version is already running.
Have fun with the new color calibration! -
Sometimes i get the error "VIDIOC_REQBUFS error 16, Device or resource busy".
The only way to solve it is to reboot the pithere is no problem with the update
-
may be a issue with lightberry, contact them for support please
-
Yes, i think it's an issue with STK1160 and kernel of OpenElec 5.0, not a problem with Hyperion at all.
I diddn't ask support, just add a button to reboot easier than use putty to just reboot :p
I'm searching for an UTV007 to try if the issue disappear. -
or your grabber, yes
-
I'm searching for an UTV007 to try if the issue disappear.
UTV007 is generally much more stable, used STK1160 in the past and they all had issues ranging from frame errors to just bad image quality.
If you can't find it locally this German store sells the genuine ones:
