The tutorial post "Raspberry Pi 3 Mediacenter + Hyperion Ambilight + NO soldering" is great but it now has me a bit worried. It mentions not using over a 100 leds because the connectors can not handle the electrical load. Which connectors do you mean? My guess is you are referring to the connectors used as the 90 degree bend at each corner of the tv. Using 30led/m strips I'd have over 120 leds on my tv. Are there heavier gauge connectors available? (I doubt it or you'd have used them) or could I work around this limitation of the connectors by soldering them?
Of course yes! This only a limitation for the 90 degree connectors, the problem is the heat If you solder it, you have no problems with it and can use as much as you want
@TPmodding We should publish a solder tutorial as addition. If people want to do crazy stuff like 60 leds/m we should build our own setup and measure the voltage to ensure the best possible voltage over the whole stripe.
