Windows Display Scaling + QT Grabber Issues

  • Hey all!

The issue I am having is performance related when the scaling resolution is greater than 100% in Windows 10. This is not an issue on my 34 inch ultrawide as it does not need scaling at its native 3440x1440 resolution. My 4k LG E9 is a whole different story and needs 200% scaling to read clearly from the couch. If I run @ 4k with scaling above 100% the grabber causes massive frame drop for Streaming content even at low capture rates below 25hz. The issue disappears entirely if I run @ 100% (Default) scaling in 4k or 1080p @120hz. I can even run the grabber capture rate with at 120hz and have lower CPU usage than 4k @ 200% scaling and 25hz capture rate.

From searching the forum it appears this was an issue as far back as 2017 with Saabats DX11 grabber. It would work fine with no scaling but become CPU intensive once > 100% was set. I was unable to determine if it was actually ever resolved. https://hyperion-project.org/t…windows-grabber.74/page-4
    and https://hyperion-project.org/t…dows-screen-grabber.1018/.

Has anyone found a workaround? For now I am running in 1920x1080 @ 120hz with no scaling as that is the best compromise but I plan on getting a 3060ti for the HTPC that the LG E9 is hooked to and running 4k 120hz and will need scaling again eventually.

    Best,
