Tried the loopback test at the bottom of this link and it just bombs out, I still think it's something dodgy with the Pi maybe.

if this test isn't working at all then i would suspect that hardware is damaged. But anyway this type of Pi's don't cost anything, so i would buy a new one and test again

every box of 00 didn't change? then datastream is dead

Indeed, thanks again for your help, would you suggest getting another Pi Zero or should I get something a bit more substantial like a Pi 3 or something?

i have a PI3b myself and very happy with that, also capable with higher ARM speed (CPU)
