Hyperion.NG, internal Frame grabber does not work with Kodi

  • I followed the steps above with OSMC on Raspberry Pi 3b, without success. Can't get helerion to work with movies. Anyone got it working?

  • Fix FKMS HDMI Audio

Thanks for providing the instructions! I was able to make Hyperion.ng work with FKMS on Kodi 21 on arch-linux on RPi3 (I was fed up with Debian not offering a recent Kodi version), by downloading /opt/vc from raspberry-firmware/oldstable and then re-compiling the hyperion.ng-git AUR. hyperion-dispmanx will fail with a useless error message and you won't get the "DispmanX" drop-down option if /opt/vc/lib/libbcm_host.so doesn't exist at both compile- and runtime.

But similar to the RPi4 reports above, HDMI-CEC doesn't work. I tried booting the RPi3 with the already TV turned on and set to the right HDMI input, but CEC is not detected, and there is no /dev/cec0. Any ideas on how to enable CEC with FKMS on RPi3?

  • So I was really desperate. I tried the hyperion.ng DRM PR from 2022, and after struggling for half a day to compile it on the RPi3 (fighting the "gold" linker, Qt5/Qt6 issues, stray quotation marks, and some more), it finally started, only to show me this:

    Code

It goes on and on and on for a while, then runs out of file descriptors and dies. I'm really not sure what I can do from here.

Apparently, I can pick any two out of:

    - streaming services (requires a recent Kodi)

    - Hyperion (doesn't work on recent Kodi except with the FKMS hack that's not officially supported nor very efficient

    - HDMI-CEC (doesn't work with FKMS)
