For now I'm just living with DV not working. I don't actually watch that much that is DV, most stuff is straightforward HDR which works fine.

You can avoid the red lines, when you crop the screen in the USB capture menu. Had the same issue.
Sorry I should be more clear, it's not just read lines on the edge, it's the whole screen due to the capture device and splitter not supporting Dolby Vision.
(this is what it looks like - not my photo)

Only HDFury supports DV processing (I remember even only Low Latency DV)
Yes it seems so. Expensive though.

Downscaling and Dolby Vision are completely separate from each other. It doesn't matter al all. You simply need a device that either can process Dolby Vision or can convert it to an SDR signal somehow. That can be a splitter / scaler / grabber.
Downscale/convert, same thing really, but yes that's what I meant, either converting it to standard HDR or SDR.

@puntoboy There is nothing to make progress on. The grabber I use simply can't handle Dolby Vision and I don't know of any HDMI grabbers that can.
No problem Wouldn't it be better to downscale the signal first, then you can capture it at 1080p? I think the problem with that approach is that Dolby Vision down-scalers are expensive.

@Infest Just tested this for you: I am able to trick the receiver easily into thinking the grabber supports Dolby Vision and it actually picks up a signal, just not a signal that is very useful. All colors are pink/purple/greenish. Not sure if there is a way to fix this with this particular grabber.
I guess you would need a grabber that specifically supports DV. Not sure if (cheap ones) exist.
Have you made any progress with this? I have the exact same issue, with Dolby Vision only. regular 4K HDR works perfectly.
Would this new splitter (with any hdmi grabber) be good solution for 4k HDR incl. CEC, ARC, HDCP 2.2? I like the full description from the manufacturer what exactely to expect from this splitter. The grabber must support full HD and HDR, I think.
https://feintech.eu/hdmi-split…fuer-av-receiver-soundbarEDIT: I've ordered this splitter now together with this HDMI-USB garbber:
. Will report how they works I contacted Feintech about their splitters and they don't support Dolby Vision downscaling, is your Pi able to capture the image OK?

just installed the HDMI to RCA.
. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but is there a way to passthrough 4K Dolby Vision to my soundbar but downscale to 1080p for output 2 so it'll work with Hyperion?
it works fine if I use the scaler to cap the signal at 1080p SDR. Even works with 4K SDR with certain splitter. But when it comes to 4K Dolby or 4K SDR I'm unable to get it to work. Hyperion does recognize the capture card and signal but the LEDs stay in the default colored bars output.
edit: nevermind. further research is showing that apparently i cant achieve 4K HDR or more desirably, Dolby Vision and have Hyperion work unless I have some expensive HDFury product?
So i guess 4K SDR + Atmos will have to do when Im in the mood for ambilight.
interestingly it works with 1080p Dolby Vision and 1080p HDR. hmm what is it about 4K HDR and 4K Dolby Vision that causes it to flatline?
Thank you guys for your help. Think ill stick to the HDMI to RCA configuration so far its been the most consistent by far
I am using Hyperion and a 4K HDR input successfully. However it's Dolby Vision that I can't get working, the capture goes all red/pink so the LEDs match. But standard HDR content works well

So on the hunt for a Dolby Vision supported HDMI splitter, ideally with multiple inputs.
-
If seems that the HDMI splitter supports Dolby Vision if you are just splitting it, but cannot downscale it. So on the lookout for a new splitter with DV support and down scaling.
-
do you have hdr on?
yes. HDR still seems to work but when the TV detects a Dolby vision signal is when it stops.
-
The preview is a garbled mess (which I thought was right through the webpage) when using DV.
-
I think it’s the Dolby Vision. If I set the display to 1080p and turn off Dolby Vision it works.
-
-
Could it have anything to do with the Fire TV using Dolby Vision with my OLED TV?
-
This is what the web page sees. (Attached).
just tried those settings and no luck I’m afraid.

Check the captured video in hyperion web interface. Is it correct? Also check the logical position of the first LED, direction, number of led etc.
It looks correct although the image doesn’t look 100% in the the web page. I assume that’s just because of some compression or something. The LEDs start top left and go across the top of the TV. Shown by the grey dots on the LED display.
-
Maybe your ledconfig in localip:8090
Change the RGB setting into GRB or something elseI did try that. RGB is correct. At least. If I set a static colour in Hyperion the correct colour is displayed. It seems to be the capture that’s wrong.

What am I doing wrong? Brand new setup. I have the following:
RPi 4
Amazon Fire TV 4K
USB capture device DIWUER Capture Card, 4K HDMI to...
HDMI splitter HDMI Splitter 1 in2 out 4K 60Hz...
The LEDs are reacting to the input, but the colours are all wrong. I’m using WLED to control the LEDs and they work OK with that but with Hyperion they are all wrong. See photo.

I think it's my Pi. If I connect the USB grabber to my PC, I can see the input video. If I plug my PC into the Pi via the grabber, the PC recognises the new "display" for a second then goes back to my monitor only.
