Thanks Mike. I have been following that, and even translated the post to understand the german part.

However I just tried with WLED and then it was working, and then I just touched the usb wire a tad and then it stopped working. The capture card was also quite hot.

Im not going to be around the setup for a few weeks so will order a different set of capture cards and hopefully one of them will work.

I noticed like if I power the capture card externally then it would also try to give power to the LEDS.

I have a feeling that this is why things suddenly stop working on my end.

So going order a bunch of new capture card and hopefully I will get it to work.

When it was working it could f licker a bit when brightness was 100% which is for me strange as im running a 5V 18A PSU. I have a feeling that again it is the usb capture playing me a trick?

Ok, thanks for the attempt to help me :D

I have now tried hyperion ng, hyperbian, hyperhdr. I tried sk6812SPI, I tried ws281x pwm, I tried wled.

It strips is powered by a 18A mean well psu. The voltage has been checked and is 5.14V.

Right now regardless of what I do, the leds just dont power on. None of them are powered on.

So clearly im trying to use SPI, but is there anything more I need to do:

    https://github.com/jgarff/rpi_ws281x#spi

Is there something with adding my pi user into root or something?

Hi, thanks for replying to me.

I got a bigger one, but same brand: https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/Hbb…=800&height=975&hash=1775

I will try what you have said here, but I also just dropped the SK6812SPI connection and used wled instead with an esp. I don't see any lag using this method so will try this for a bit. Have a theory that the batch of dupont cables I bought might be a bit of a bad quality

But should I buy the smaller rullz USB grabber?

Then a few seconds it drops, and then back again.

I got a HDFury Diva hdmi splitter, a rullz hdmi capture device, a rpi 4, sk6812 rgbw with 219 leds.

It is all powered with a 18A meanwell 5V adapter except for the hdfury diva, which is powered by its own 12V adapter.

I just cannot figure out why the leds react fine to the tv image and then it turns off for 1 sec and back on again.

    Im using hyperbian image.

Im not able to find any specific things in the log, but it feels lik the rpi is a bit more laggy than it uses to be so that the captured image seems a bit choppy.

I replaced the USB grabber for the second time, now this is my third(and last) rullz USB grabber and now it seems to be working ok. However the swap from 1 to 2 made it work for like 1 hour and then it shut down again.

Would love other recommendations for better USB grabbers if there are any as well

Im running low settings 760x480, fps of 20 etc.

Any idea what I can try to do?

I believe i might have found a solution. So on the apple tv I change settings to 4k SDR and then if I trigger an HDR movie then it will still switch as I then would see the HDR icon on my tv.

So with that the purple is not an issue.

I did try my setup with my box series s and then the LEDS would work but my tv would just show a black screen while I saw it on the capture inside hyperion :D

Anyways sticking with the apple tv for now.

I got the exact problem and Im using this :

it is only a problem when my tv don't use Dolby vision 4k mode on the apple tv. So watching HDR movies, no issue, but watching youtube then it is an issue.

Is it really the only way to purchase another splitter? For me HDR works fine, but the main problem is this purple layer on top

    Hi,

So I have after almost giving up, jumped in again and then in order to get 4K HDR I have to set my HDMI splitter to copy (FeinTech VSP01201 HDMI 2.0)
So everything works perfectly when I watch a movie or trigger something that will display in 4K HDR. Then colors are great, picture is great and lights are great.

However in the normal screen I see this : https://imgur.com/a/Y6xBW1c

I don't have this problem if I set the apple tv to 4K SDR, but I really want the HDR quality.

EDIT: I see my tv mode is 4k Dolby VIsion, if I try to set it to 4K HDR then it doesn't show any colors

Anyone know a solution for this?

Alright, so things have happened since I wrote this and I got told to buy this:

So based on this I have come up with following idea for my hyperion setup

    https://imgur.com/a/Mk9lmib

So in additional there will be a power from psu to end of led strip.

The only worry I now have is related to what you are saying about the pi4, should I rather just get a 3b+ for this project to be on the safe side? Im not sure if the wifi coverage on my rpi zero was all that good, and being able to potentially run ethernet on the pi is tempting. (as I have a router close by)

Looking forward to hear your thoughts on my suggested setup

    Hi all,

I have been planning for a long time to install hyperion behind my 55" LG Oled tv.

I looked at multiple videos online and people where saying that a rpi zero should be fine and that following capture card would work great:
    https://www.aliexpress.com/ite…042311.0.0.27424c4dLhfLg4

So all went great and I did the following:

    RPI zero
    WS2812 60l per meter, total 219 leds.

5V 6A power supply, connected with a dig uno where I didn't use the wemos d1, but just connected in the GPIO2 pin and similar GPIO 18 on the rpi zero.

    https://imgur.com/a/ZNmNcYg

This worked and I managed to record a video of it working. Then the RPI zero started stuttering and was unresponsive so I decided that I was not able to use a rpi zero and redid things with a rpi 4.

Here I never really got it working, but that is probably because the dig uno had probably been damaged somehow.

Anyways, so I was getting a lot of no signal with my Apple TV 4k and I started to understand that this was due to the Capture card. Firstly I thought it was just under powered, but it seemed that it was not able to handle 4K HDR and max was 4K SDR.

As I would not be able to accept this, I reverted back to just connecting the attached LEDs to a dig uno which allows me to use WLED.

I would love to hear what I could have done differently in terms of grabber, as the recommendations on youtube is clearly not able to handle the latest and greatest (which I believe Philips Hue Sync box is?)

Would appreciate some input here so I can order a proper USB grabber and get this working at some point!

    Thanks!
