Currently my AVR is not HDR capable. So it doesn't have to be HyperHDR. I just found HyperHDR's tutorial/overview nicer by far than Hyperion's docs. The hyperion docs are not very beginner friendly in my opinion. I don't find anything about esp32 level shifter or CP2102 in the docs either.

I honestly didn't expect there to be any competition between the two softwares either....

Do you have any recommendation for my hardware for Hyperion?

    I now ordered this:

    What's still on my list:

Did I miss something? The HyperHDR Guide has confused me. Do I need voltage level shifter? Did I buy the wrong ESP? Because they write the CP2102 somehow has too little power to create the right Hertz...?

Thanks for the reply and clarification on the 12v. I thought it would work because it's an "LED power supply". Seems like there are 12V LED stripes...

On the other points: Did you click on the graphic to see it in full? I was also confused with the picture after I posted it, but I thought it was familiar to non-nobies like me :D

    Hello all,

I would like to start with the Hyperion project for my 65" 4K HDR10+ TV.

For this I have done some research and put together my experiences in a graphic.

In the first step, I do not want to worry about DRM content.

As far as I know, I don't have any problems with Kodi anyway, and an HDMI splitter and a decent capture card is expensive, but could probably be integrated into the setup at any time?

My question now would be if this works the way I drew it:

My shopping list would be the following:

    > RPI (already owned running Raspbian with Docker)

    > Chromecast with Google TV (already owned, TV with Android TV should also work)

    > ESP32

    > APA102 5m 60LED/m

    > 5V 20A 100W LED power supply (I still have a 12V 5A 60W LED power supply here. But I don't know if it works with this voltage. Maybe only for testing).

What do you think? Is something missing?

Is there any tutorial for a similar setup?

    Thank you in advance ;)
