Well...good idea but in fact that screenshot was blurry and I don't know why.
This is what I really get...
I've tried to play with thresholds but it didn't work.

Thanks for your help btw.
Really appreciated. -
Well, I'm starting to believe there is a problem with the signal detection...
I've tried with your values, no luck.
I've tried with the 1 led trick to get the correct coordinates, no luck.
I've also tried on the blue bar, the red bar and the green bar, no luck !!!
The only thing that works is to detect the black bar...
Of course I've also tried to play with thresholds on the different bars (red, green or blue) and that made no difference at all. -
Nice !!
I tried to do the same on the blue bar 2 days ago with no luck.
I'll try tonight with the green one instead.
Many thanks. -
Driving Leds from the SPI is a bit tricky and can sometimes lead to some flickering.
It is always a matter of voltage, maybe it is a little bit too low on the SPI gpio and you need a level shifter.
Or maybe you could replace the 330Ohm resistance with a 470.Btw I chose the Arduino way, much more stable, no flickering at all, but more cables too
(I did try Wled with an ESP8266, that works really well, I will soon rewire my setup in order to reduce the number of cables). -
Set the Kodi GUI resolution to 720p instead of 1080p

It seems like a kind of simply image recognition Anyway, I don't gave a plan for any support for an analog solutions in a future and that "no signal" screen is a sign of that past technology. Modern HDMI grabbers simply output a black image.. there are cheap, more advanced (FullHD resolutions without downscaling, accept various FPS and color formats including HDR10) and reliable than counterfeit UTV0007 clones. This fork is focused on high quality image processing including HDR. I hope you understand my reasons.
I sure understand, no problem.
Would you have any link for one of these cheap and modern HDMI grabber ?
Because I've tried with both these grabbers :
https://fr.aliexpress.com/item…042311.0.0.4c966c37PQxp6l
https://fr.aliexpress.com/item…042311.0.0.27426c37YELEz2And they both give me that "rainbow" no signal...
Thx.

That's the limitation of the signal detection algorithm that depends on the brightness/black level. And it works as it's designed, causes some side effects.
In this situation some kind of image (rainbow) recognition is needed, and as I it various from one kind of grabber to other (and from one saturation/luminescence levels to other), maybe detection by neural network would be preferred. Out of my skills unfortunately
Ok, I can understand, many thanks BTWEDIT: one idea on the top of my head, what about fetching 3 points on the screen, located where green, red, blue bars are supposed to be when there is no signal, and check if their "dominant" color is green red and blue (no brightness or luminance needed, just check the dominant color) ?
It could work for the "rainbow" case, and I believe a lot of grabbers are displaying this picture. -
@NeeeeB it's already uploaded. untested
Great !! You rock ! will try this week-end as I'll have some free time.
In the mean time, I know I'm asking a lot, but would you have an idea on how to detect "properly" when there is no signal for the USB grabber and turn it off ?
Signal detection as it is now is not ideal at all in my opinion.
I have one of these grabbers that display a "rainbow" picture when there is no signal, so I've set signal detection to recognize the black bar on the right, but now every time I watch a movie or TV and the picture is very dark for more than 4 seconds on the right, Leds shut off...
They come back to life as soon as the dark is left, but it is really annoying.
I've tried to make it detect the blue bar with no luck... -
Really nice.
Any chance for Pi sdcard images ?
I'd like to try the new algorithms.
Thanks -
Hi !!
I have a question about signal detection.
What is the best way to configure the detection area ?
Currently my grabber displays this when there is no signal.
So I've set the detection area to Vmin:0.9 Vmax:0.98 Hmin:0.9 Hmax:0.98It works great but if I watch a movie and the bottom right part is black for more than 4 seconds, Leds switch off.
Should I set the detection area to reflect the most possible that black bar on the left ?
I try to avoid as much possible the Leds to switch off when I watch a movie.Thx

Darf ich mal auf Deutsch nachfragen? Wenn Grabber Regenbogeneffekt liefert und deshalb CEC nicht funktioniert, kann man das Ausschalten über die Signal Detection Einstellungen doch noch hinkriegen?
English would be better, you can use Google translate if needed.
Signal detection works OK, I had to play with threshold values for it to detect the loss of signal
I figured it by watching the Live feed when my receiver is off, and I noted there were artifacts in the black bar which made Hyperion believe there was still "movement"...So I increased thresholds to "workaround" these artifacts. -

Anybody knows if there's a way to Start/Stop an Hyperion instance using home assistant? I'd like to make an automation which should activate the instance to sync with the selected lights!
Thx
might want to have a look here, specifically the WebServer and JSON requests part :

Hi,
I have the exact same problem, meaning rainbow bars when my Yamaha receiver is Off...
And I'm totally unable to get rid of this, even with the previous settings applied (see screenshot).I'm running the latest Hyperbian on a Pi3.
What I find strange is that I didn't have this "rainbow bars" when I ran Hyperion.NG alongside Librelec on the same Pi (and signal detection was turned off).Any idea ?
EDIT: fixed, I've had to increase the 3 thresholds to 30% for it to work
-
use expert level settings in Hyperion.NG, things that you are missing are hidden on default
Oh...totally missed that...thanks. -

Thanks! Three years ago when I did my second build I was told that the WS2812's were not as accurate of color as the APA102's - is that no longer the case?
I can't tell because I've never compared, but with color calibration in Hyperion I can get exactly the same color on my wall as on my screen... -
Hi ,
I have a problem with running Hyperion.
on RPi I installed libreelec, from libreelec add-ons I install Hyperion9.2.SSH to RPi and when running hiperion.service got an error:
Codessh in: Unable to initialize ws281x library. ssh in: terminate called after throwing an instance of 'int'
Can you provide a new link with hyperiond binary ?
