    Hi all,

i'm using the EZCap269 video capture card which is performing great but it is showing wrong/really ugly colors (see below) with my Amazon FireStick.

It must be the device itself - i tried it standalone with my PC with OBS studio and tried to tweak some video settings but no success.

I got -> this device <- which solves HDMI handshake problems and when using it, it actually shows normal colors. The problem is, that it requires several attempts/fiddling/changing the mode several times/unplugging when powering up until it works which is rather annoying.

Also the dongle itself is very sensitive, as soon as you touch it unintentially it loses signal again.

Of course i want to use the device without the dongle - any ideas what is causing this? Is it something with HDCP or is it set to NTSC instead of PAL of something?

Could it be that it works when using a HDCP converter from 2.2 to 1.4?

Btw. i already updatet it to the latest firmware (unfortunately there's no changelog).

    Thanks in advance

    Hallo,

    Danke!

    Hi,

i am running 4 WLED instances on my FritzBox 6591 Router - all instances are running on a Wemos D1 Mini - properly configured (i assigned fixed ip addresses in my router).

i am using the Windows Version of Hyperion.NG.

    the problem(s) which are occuring:

when powering up anything - not all instances will work immidiately (sometimes one or two remain orange) - i need to unplug/replug several times until all instances work properly. even then, several instances might not be reachable via WLED app and are shown as offline although they are working. when i'm lucky, it works without problems but occasionally one of the instances stops receiving after a few minutes and turn orange. or even worse: eg. 3 instances are working properly but the 4th seems locked/freezed and is reacting very slow with up to 1-2 seconds latency (although the other instances are working fast).

sometimes it even happens that my video stream starts freezing (i'm using amazon firestick).

i've tried several things and couldn't find out what's causing all this. the strange thing is it always affects a different instance - not always the same one. sometimes only 2 instances work and the others are disabled, makes no sense.

i already thought, that something is messing up wlan traffic as video also freezes from time to time - or maybe the instances are trying to communicate with each other which is causing freezing? or maybe it's the D1 itself? (alle instances are wemos d1 v3) ..

my instances in detail: TV: 70 leds, floor: 288 leds, 2 led lamps: 204 leds each.

shouldn't be too much leds :)

asap i have time, i will start "debugging" from scratch, adding one instance after each other and see what happens.

any ideas what could be wrong?

    thanks

    Hallo,

the fresh install will keep your settings file that's why it keeps crashing .. you need to delete/edit first - i'm using the PC version and it's called hyperion.db
i think for raspberry it's the same name. just look it up and delete it.
btw. you could try hyperHDR for optimized grabber performance - it's somekind of hyperion mod.
in Hue settings: look out for the setting "Entertainment API" - it's the fast one.

    not fixed for me :(
I have the latest version (alpha 9) and it crashes with hue...

i think it's because it's using the wrong Hue-mode .. the updated version uses a different/super fast API mode and crashes with the old setting .. do a fresh install and it should work.
2nd option: editiung the hyperion SQLite database file and disabled the Hue instance manually (in order to keep all other settings), delete it and add a new instance and select the new mode.

The latest version of Hyperion.NG fixed it .. it's damn fast + cool now :)
Previously it was slow and the colors didn't match / react properly. Now it's more like a night club :D

Wäre also gern dabei :)

    Danke!

lol honestly i didn't understand how you reset the grabber :D
my approach is completely different - i thought it's broken and verified it via OBS Studio - i found out that you can reset the device which helped.
the problem was, that i tweaked the hardware settings of brightness/contrast and messed up and using OBS studio i could reset it.
that way i also found out that the device doesn't like custom resolution settings.

Playing with size decimation will help with the latency too.
    set it to 8.
Also, 640*480 is 4/3, would be better to use 720*480 to achieve 16/9 ratio !

    Thanks, will try it!
About 16/9 is a great point!
Btw. one thing i figured out: my grabber doesn't like certain settings / custom resolutions - it will completely stop working! Took me days of hair pulling until i figured it out :D I don't know how it resets / starts working again but the lowest resolution which works is 640x480.
I'm using this device - should try to find out the supported resolutions.
I also ordered an EZcap 269 which runs on USB3 and was recommended by the coder of HyperHDR. It should be really fast.

you can see the device latency on hyperion startup but haven't tried it.
a good technique for testing it is: loading a youtube video and manually skip frames (to next scene) where the colors change.
with german keyboard it's "," for previous frame and "." for next frame.
last time i tested with the pi zero, i had 1 second latency which is way too much .. i wil try again soon :)
