Hi, I was using a custom built ws2811 50-led string array with arduino connected via usb to my old raspi b+ running openelec and worked fine on two identical hardware led tv setups.
I recently tried to use the same setup with a rpi2 running libreelec and it didn't work. I used the same old .json file and the device is correctly connected at ttyUSB0. I get the initial rainbow effect and for a moment blue leds corresponding to kodi home screen and then connection is lost and the leds our out.
I enclose log and my .json config..
