Hyperiond requires a restart to work properly

  • hi,
I am using the following setup:
    - X86/X64 running Linux Mint
    - Kodi which autostarts when machine boots
    - string of WS2813 Leds contolled by Arduino Uno plugged into the linux mint machine
    - ledstrip is powered by mint machine power supply via Molex cable

    Problem:
When I start the machine the leds light up briefly, then die out.
Hyperiond is running from the log, but requires sudo Hyperiond restart to function properly.

after a restart of the hyperion service it works perfectly, but I have no idea what is going wrong at first boot.
At first the grabber wasnt starting but I solved that by adding it to the linux auto-startup.

    Your help is appreciated

  • its not mentioned in the tutorials and I see the release is alpha5
is the functionality the same and is it stable enough to use?

if you recommend me to switch I will give it a try.

Do I need to uninstall the current hyperion version that I am using including the X11 grabber?

  • HyperionNG works very well, but I had the same problem as before, as the system boot and hyperionD autostarts with it, it doesnt work, a reboot is required.

Finally I solved it by starting hyperionD with a script that adds 15 seconds delay. I suspect that something goes wrong when the connection with the arduino is established while the hardware is not ready for it.

but at least it works. thread solved
