video playback black when on

i have been using hyperion with the raspberry pi 3 for a few months but now when i turn on the lights the LE video playback goes black but the lights are still being active changing in the background and the video is still playing just goes black doesnt freeze or lag. it just started doing this. when i turn off the lights, the video plays smoothly.
