Future Project-LG 77G19

Hello everyone,

I am new in the subject, but have already read a lot of documentation/forum posts etc. and somehow I am no longer sure if what I want to do will work at all.

Next week my new LG OLED77G19 TV will arrive and I want to add ambilight on all 4 sides.

The TV is mainly played via the new AppleTV 4K but also now and then via an XBox Series X / Nintendo Switch etc..

After reading trough the forum I currently see the following "problems":

HDR content
4K with 120Hz
Dolby Vision

Can anyone confirm, who may have the same setup, that this all works?

I don't want to spend a few hundred euros and then find out that it is not working.

Hallo Alle zusammen,

ich bin neu in der Materie und habe aber bereits sehr viele Dokumentationen/Forenbeiträge usw. gelesen und bin mir irgendwie nicht mehr sicher ob das was ich machen will überhaupt funktioniert.

Was möchte ich erreichen?:

Nächste Woche kommt mein neuer LG OLED77G19 Fernseher und bei diesem möchte ich ambilight auf allen 4 Seiten nachrüsten.

Angespielt wird dieser hauptsächlich über den neuen AppleTV 4K und hin und wieder über eine XBox Series X.

Folgende Unklarheiten sehe ich aktuell:

HDR Inhalte
4K mit 120Hz
Dolby Vision

Kann mir jemand bestätigen, der vielleicht das gleiche Setup hat, dass das ganze funktioniert?

Ich möchte ungern einige Hundert Euro ausgeben und dann draufkommen, dass es nicht funktioniert.

Hallo,

du brauchst auf jeden Fall einen HDMI-Splitter der 4K zum TV durchreichen, und einen HDMI2USB der 4K am Eingang verarbeiten kann. Evtl. sollte der Splitter auch auf einem der HDMI Out auf 1080p downscalen können, dort wo die Video Capture Card dann angeschlossen wird. Probleme werden sich mit HDR ab 10bit, 120Hz und Dolby Vision aber nicht vermeiden lassen, da die derzeitig erhältlichen Grabber das nicht beherrschen. Vernünftig und zuverlässig schafft das derzeit nur die HDFury Diva, ist aber auch schweineteuer. Wenn's billiger sein soll, musst du die richtige Kombination für dich selbst finden, auch aus Gründen deines letzten geposteten Satzes.

you can follow 2 options;

1; the HDMI and/or 4K/Dolby Vision route on 4k tv/devices

HDR and Dolby Vision are hand in hand together, Dolby Vision is just a marketing name, HDR is the shortening of the technical possibillity.

4K with 120Hz, you can't find or very difficult devices for this, 4K 60Hz will work also and most higher quality HDMI splitters will support, you can also choose 4K 30Hz

with HDMI think of these things that can make problems in configuration,

ARC/e-ARC ( sound protocol )
HDCP ( copy protection protocol )
HDMI1.4 or higher cables for transporting high 4K UHD resolutions and sound
resolution 1080p or 4K
splitters and capturing devices that can handle 4K and/or conversions of resolutions

2; the camera/webcam route

this way you evade the problems you can have with transporting HDMI signal from device to device;

these are the things that i mentioned in chapter one.

The camera is placed before the tv in a angle capturing live feed, directly connected to USB port and some tweaking in (cam)settings in OS of the PI
