Wrong colours when using external grabber

  • Hi everybody,

now that I've spent the whole weekend setting up my Hyperion, I'm giving up and turning to you guys with hope.

When using the Hyperion remote control, all colours are looking good, so the LEDs seem to work properly.

But when using the USB grabber which is connected to my Google Chromecast colours don't match the colours of the TV screen.

Especially yellow parts of the screen seem not to be transferred to the LEDs.

    I have:

    - Raspberry PI 3 B

    - WS2801 LEDs

    - Power supply

    - Grabber:

    - Converter:

    Test Video:

    Config:

    Could anybody help me troubleshooting?

Please forgive me for being a Newbie...

    Thanks in advance!

    Hat das Thema freigeschaltet.
  • Get a modern digital grabber from €10 and you then no longer need the converter which probably causes problems in connection with the grabber. With a digital grabber you get even better quality.

    Ambilight for ever

  • Is this a 4K Google Chromecast and do you have a UHD TV?

    What is playing?

And how does the HDMI signal get to the converter and the TV?

  • You're awesome thanks!

    This is my current setting:

    (I tried both)

    So this should be my

    future setting?

Do you think that this will work? I mean the two input devices - each having an HDMI splitter.

Each device should be connected to an own TV HDMI port - else I have to configure my TV every day...

  • Do you think that this will work?

it could, but maybe you interfere with HDCP and such, that really can be a bitch to sort out.

this signals : CEC/HDCP/ARC or E-arc >> what do you want to do with those?

HDCP you can't avoid, so you need a good route from splitter and switch.

i show you my schematics how i made it on a Onkyo Receiver 1080P >> and it works with HDCP/CEC and E-Arc :)

    its the last image uploaded

  • The 2 splitters and behind them a switch makes no sense. Unfortunately, since you didn't write anything specific, we can't really help you either.

    Ambilight for ever

  • I decided to only use the ambient lights for my Chromecast.

But today i noticed that it again doesn't work properly.

When turning on my Raspberry everything works pretty well but after some seconds or minutes (seems to be random) the LEDs go off and on. When checking the live video, there's the same. The screen offen gets black and there's a delay.

After some time the Hyperion Control Website doesn't react and I have to reboot my Raspberry.

It's the same behavior when using my Raspberry 3 and 4. (I use the latest HyperBian version)

What could be the reason for this? A bad digital grabber?

  • Is possible, test the grabber on another device, e.g. a PC.
