Ambilight Questions, Grabber Screenshot and Hyperion NG

  • Hello, I'm just building my old Ambilight to a friend's TV. The last time I adjusted something was in 2016. i have this questions.

    1. Grabber Screenshot

To check whether the grabber gets a good picture, you could take a screenshot and adjust the crop values if necessary. Unfortunately I can't find anything about it in the manual. Isn't that necessary anymore?

    2. Hyperion NG

Is it worth switching to Hyperion NG and what are the differences?

    Thanks

  • Hi as I understood from all I was read you can use "old" Hyperion.jar with some OS using Python 2, not higher. If you have old set up (soft- and hardware) you can configurate new .json file for your freinds TV and use, I think

  • Hyperion.ng is the evolution with many new features and improvements.

Hypercon.jar is no longer supported, configuration via Hyperion's WEBIF.

There is also a live video from the grabber.

With modern digital grabbers, you usually do not need to set the crop values.

Digital grabbers are also cheaper (from 10€) and you don't need an HDMI2AV converter.

The quality that can be achieved today is significantly better than in 2016-

    regards pclin

  • Thanks for all replies. I did some research on Hyperion NG. The configuration is much easier now :) My analog grabber is still used as the grabber. I'll check it out with Hyperion NG.

    Thanks
