I just did a new build and started over with Hyperbian. I have custom effects that I had created prior. I tried to SSH into the Pi but can't find the effects folder. I can't even find the Hyperion folder.

As you see, I don't have that folder.
-
click /home/pi/hyperion/effects then you are there.
btw i see two files for each effect, a python file and a Json file. Better to copy both of them.

I will give it a shot when I get back home after work. Thanks for your help!

As you mentioned that you access your machine via ssh, I was under the assumption that you can navigate via the terminal.
the „~“ is the synonym for a user‘s home directory. If you do in a terminal
cd ~/.hyperion
pwdYou should see the resolved complete path.
@jeroen warmerdam I would assume that you are missing the dot before the hyperion directory...

Sorry, this is all VERY new to me as I just started getting back into it after 4 years. Even then, I barely messed with anything at that time. I had only used it with Homeseer to control my APA102's under my cabinet. Now I'm tired of all my smart devices being on a million different apps, some not under Homeseer, and now attempting to learn HASSIO. So as you know, this is all like learning a second language.

So, I get into the home and Pi folder, but once into the Pi folder, it's completely empty ♂️ -
The ".hyperion" directory is normally a hidden one.

Remember, I'm like a 5 year old trying to build a car here... How do it get it to display if it's hidden? -
Sorry, my fault. Depending on the Linux version the user data directory is different.
Do you have a custom-effects directory under "/home/pi/hyperion"
If yes, put your custom effect files there.... -
What you also could do to find where the customer-effects should go:
1. Put debug Logging on
2. Save a custom Test Effect
3.Find the correct custom-effect directory in the log
Note: On hyperbian, the directory will b e different to the one in the the screenshot!4. Copy your custom effects to the "custom-effects" directory using WinScp or equivalent tool

That's the thing... There is NOTHING in the Pi folder ♂️

with VNC viewer you can see the desktop and in folders you can select in view tab> CTRL+H this makes vissible hidden folders.
how to do that in SSH/Putty
For command line:
ls -a
or
ls -al -

Thank you! I had to SSH and change the permissions on the to the folders with VCN, then add my old effects. Thanks for that because not sure I would have found it without your help!
